Experienced Data Scientist for Agentic Applications - Aarhus or Gdansk
Arla Foods
“At Arla, we are scaling proven Data Science and Machine Learning capabilities into business-critical products that support commercial decisions across our markets. We are looking for someone who can combine strong quantitative modelling skills with modern software and AI engineering practices to help drive this journey.” says Andreas Therkildsen, Manager, IT Product Architect.
How You Will Make An Impact
You will join a dedicated product team responsible for the Net Revenue Management (NRM) Commercial Intelligence Platform and its growing portfolio of pricing, promotion, forecasting, and AI-enabled capabilities. Working closely with commercial stakeholders, product owners, architects, engineers, and data specialists, you will:
- Build a deep understanding of pricing, promotions, demand drivers, and commercial decision-making within Net Revenue Management.
- Design and develop statistical, econometric, and machine learning models that generate actionable business insights.
- Apply Machine Learning models and inference techniques to evaluate commercial initiatives and identify revenue opportunities, and understand why the models perform as they do.
- Develop and operationalize forecasting, pricing, and promotional effectiveness models in production environments.
- Partner up with engineers and architects to establish scalable MLOps, model monitoring, and AI-enabled development practices.
- Help identify and mature new AI and Data Science opportunities into trusted business capabilities that create measurable value.
You have hands-on experience with Data Science, Machine Learning, Data Engineering and modern AI tooling. You enjoy solving real business challenges and working at the intersection of business, data, and technology. You understand that successful solutions require strong statistical foundations, trusted data, and robust engineering practices. The ideal candidate brings:
- Strong experience with Bayesian hierarchical models using tools such as PyMC, Stan, or NumPyro, combined with solid statistical inference and model validation practices.
- Strong econometrics and causal inference expertise, including price elasticity modelling, endogeneity challenges, and deriving reliable insights from real-world commercial data.
- Strong Python and SQL skills, combined with experience deploying and maintaining models through automated pipelines, monitoring, testing, versioning, and MLOps practices.
- Practical experience with machine learning approaches such as XGBoost, LightGBM, and forecasting techniques for demand and baseline prediction.
- Daily use of AI-enabled development tools such as Claude, Codex, GitHub Copilot, or similar, with the ability to critically evaluate generated outputs.
- A product-oriented mindset and the ability to translate business opportunities into scalable analytical solutions.
- Pricing, Promotions, Revenue Growth Management, Commercial Intelligence, or Net Revenue Management.
- Optimization techniques and decision modelling using tools such as OR-Tools, Pyomo, or Gurobi.
- Advanced causal inference methods such as Causal Forests, Synthetic Control, Bayesian Structural Time Series, DoubleML, or EconML.
- Time-series forecasting approaches such as state-space models or Prophet.
- Databricks, Spark, Azure, and modern cloud-based data platforms.
- Retail and consumer datasets, or an MSc/PhD within Statistics, Econometrics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
This position is based in Aarhus, Denmark or Gdańsk, Poland, with an expectation of 50% office presence. You will work alongside skilled product teams, architects, engineers and data specialists and can help shape the future of AI-powered commercial capabilities within one of Arla’s strategically important business domains. We offer a flexible hybrid working model, competitive salary and benefits, and opportunities for professional development in a rapidly evolving AI landscape.
