Software engineer (senior) - Cobol & Java

You will join a team working with business-critical systems where established mainframe solutions coexist with newer technologies. We are therefore looking for someone who not only has strong development skills, but who also enjoys understanding complex systems, improving existing solutions, and contributing to their continued modernization.
Your direct manager will be Ali Razvi.
Primary task and responsibilities include:
- Contribute actively to technical design and architectural discussions
- Challenge existing solutions where there is a better way forward
- Help bridge the gap between mainframe and modern application development
- Support the modernization and gradual evolution of our technology landscape
- Take responsibility from refinement and technical analysis through implementation, testing, and production
- Contribute to a strong engineering culture focused on quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Strong experience with COBOL and mainframe development
- Solid hands-on experience with Java
- Experience working with business-critical and complex systems
- Ability to understand and work with existing codebases as well as develop new solutions
- A structured approach to software quality, testing, maintainability, and production stability
- Experience troubleshooting issues across applications and technologies
- Ability to collaborate closely with developers, testers, business experts, and other stakeholders
- Comfortable taking ownership and driving technical discussions and solutions
- Willingness to share knowledge and support less experienced colleagues
