Software Engineer - Integrations
Trackunit
What's in it for you?
- Shape how the work gets done. Join a new, small team set up next to an established platform team, and help define how integrations get built here.
- Hear directly from the people using what you build. Customer feedback feeds straight back into the roadmap, and we act on it quickly.
- Collaborate beyond your own codebase. You’ll have regular, technically focused conversations with developers from the systems we connect to.
- Learn from experts who share. You’ll work with experienced domain experts who are open to sharing what they know, so you learn quickly.
- See your work ship. We favour small, frequent releases over long project cycles, so progress is visible fast.
You are a backend developer with strong Java skills, just as comfortable at the edges where systems meet as inside your own codebase.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and REST APIs, in particular consuming data from other systems, in a microservice architecture.
- Experience designing new, reliable, reusable architecture for integrating with multiple systems. System-to-system integration experience is what we value most.
- You are comfortable discussing technical feasibility and approaches with third-party technical teams.
- You care what happens when data moves between systems, so you build with quality, observability and reliability in mind and you know quickly when something breaks.
- You are motivated by incremental delivery, enjoy getting close to the data, and like building new foundations from scratch.
Don't meet every single requirement? No worries, this is what we're looking for ideally. If you're excited about this role but your background doesn't align perfectly with every point above, we encourage you to apply.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design a reusable architecture for integrating with multiple third-party systems, not one-off solutions.
- Build connectors that collect data from third-party systems, usually ERPs, mainly by consuming their REST APIs, and bring it reliably into our platform.
- Understand the data you collect and transform it into Trackunit's data model.
- Work with third-party vendors: discuss technical feasibility and approaches with their technical counterparts.
- Build with quality, observability and reliability in mind, on our microservice and event-driven architecture.
Don’t waste your time writing the perfect cover letter. We want you to create an impact that matters - and that’s not in the cover letter.
- Initial phone conversation with a colleague from our P&T team.
- Virtual meet and greet with your potential new leader and someone from the team, so you’ll get to know the role and team better.
- Assignment-specific interview with the hiring manager and a lead engineer from the team. We want to give you a real insight into the work. You’ll receive a case to prepare ahead of the interview and present to relevant colleagues - people you’ll also work closely with in the role.
- If needed, we will obtain references from former employers and conduct background checks at relevant levels.
- Offer presentation and walk-through.
