Senior Business Analyst
Bunker Holding A/S
Do you understand complex business processes, question assumptions and turn real needs into solutions developers can build? Join our product team in Aarhus and help shape the in-house systems supporting global commodity trading, risk management and financial operations!
We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst, who can bridge business stakeholders and our development team. You will get close to the users, understand how the business creates value and manages risk, and translate complex needs into clear, prioritized backlog items. The goal is simple: to ensure that we build the right things, not only build things right.
This is an operational and influential role in a collaborative product team. You will be expected to ask “why”, create clarity, speak up and help the team make pragmatic decisions in a complex domain. You will not be coding, but you have enough technical understanding to discuss services, data and integrations credibly with developers.
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will work directly with end users and business stakeholders to understand their processes, pain points and goals. You will constructively question requirements to uncover the real need behind requests and challenge initiatives that do not create sufficient value. Based on these insights, you will map and document business processes, data flows and system-supported capabilities, translating business needs into clear epics, user stories and acceptance criteria that the development team can act on.
In addition, you will:
- Partner closely with the Product Owner and support prioritization based on business value, risk and dependencies.
- Participate actively in refinement and act as the go-to person for business questions during development.
- Maintain the big-picture view of how changes affect services, integrations and downstream processes across the trade lifecycle.
- Use AI tools to accelerate analysis and documentation, while critically reviewing and improving the output.
- Help the team and the business identify practical, responsible ways of applying AI in everyday workflows.
The environment you will join
You will become part of an agile product team, with a closely involved Product Owner and a culture where decisions are made together. There is no ivory tower. We expect colleagues to contribute their perspective, challenge ideas respectfully and take shared ownership of the outcome.
The team builds and develops in-house systems covering the trade lifecycle from capturing derivative trades through risk management to invoicing. The users work within Global Risk Management, and the solutions operate in a service-oriented landscape based on .NET and Azure, with a combination of on-premises infrastructure and Kubernetes.
The role is based at our Aarhus office, where close day-to-day collaboration matters. Depending on business needs, you should also expect occasional visits to Middelfart.
What we are looking for
We imagine that you have several years of experience as a Business Analyst, Business Architect, Product Owner, Functional Consultant or in a comparable role. More importantly, you have repeatedly demonstrated that you can understand complexity and turn it into concrete, value-creating deliverables.
You have demonstrated the ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into clear, actionable deliverables. You are also comfortable writing user stories and acceptance criteria and contributing effectively in agile or Scrum-based product teams.
We also imagine that you bring:
- Practical use of AI tools in daily work, for example to analyze information, draft requirements, summarize stakeholder input or map processes, combined with sound critical judgement.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to bring business and technical stakeholders into alignment
- Ability to align stakeholders constructively, including at senior level
- Sufficient technical understanding to discuss services, data and integrations without needing to be a developer.
- Professional proficiency in English. Danish is an advantage because much of the team’s daily collaboration takes place in Danish.
It will be a strong advantage if you also have:
- Knowledge of commodity or energy trading, derivatives, risk management or financial back-office processes such as trade capture, settlement, invoicing or hedging.
- Experience with ETRM or CTRM systems.
- A background in software development or a hybrid technical/business role before moving closer to the business side.
Who you are
- Curious and motivated to understand how the business makes money and manages risk.
- Pragmatic and able to balance an ideal solution with what creates value now.
- Comfortable expressing an opinion, asking difficult questions and making complex topics understandable.
- Collaborative, accountable and motivated by being part of a product team rather than a separate analysis function.
- Interested in new tools, including AI, and thoughtful about where they genuinely improve quality and speed.
What we offer
At Bunker Holding, you will work in an international business where technology supports global trading and risk management. You will join experienced colleagues in Aarhus, gain direct access to both users and developers, and work with complex systems where your analysis helps shape priorities and solutions
You can expect a collaborative and practical environment, professional development opportunities, pension and health insurance, and flexible working arrangements that support a sustainable work life. Normal support hours are centred around the working day, and any holiday on-call coverage is handled through a rotating arrangement.
Ready to apply?
If this sounds like the challenge you are looking for, we would be happy to hear from you. Please upload your CV and application. We review applications on an ongoing basis and schedule interviews when we identify suitable candidates.
We believe diverse perspectives improve our decisions and solutions. Therefore, we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every single preference listed above. For any questions about the position, feel free to reach out to Team Lead, Jane Ingildsen at +45 2791 6688.
