IT Security Engineer

Space Inventor

Are you a hands-on, security focused engineer ready to help build a technical security foundation? If you thrive on turning compliance frameworks into real-world technical control while staying closely connected to daily operations, this job is for you.

Working closely with our Head of IT and Security, you will turn our ISMS (ISO/IEC 27001, NIS2, and the EU AI Act) into operating technical reality by designing, implementing, and operating the controls, tooling, and secure configurations that protect Space Inventor across our Corporate, Missions, and SatOPS zones. This is a role focused on establishing new capabilities rather than maintaining an existing setup. Alongside hands-on security engineering, you will co-own and deliver day-to-day IT support, keeping you grounded in user needs and the operational reality of our environment.

Given Space Inventors work you must be eligible for a Danish Personnel Security Clearance.

The job is located in Aalborg, Denmark.

Your Responsibilities

  • Core Security & Tooling: Design, implement, and operate core security controls and tooling (EDR, logging/SIEM, vulnerability management, email, and endpoint security).
  • Identity & Access Management: Build and harden the identity foundation (Entra ID security, MFA, Conditional Access, PAM, Windows LAPS, and access governance).
  • Hardening & Infrastructure: Establish endpoint and server hardening baselines (CIS benchmarks) enforced via Intune; support secure design for infrastructure rebuilds and Entra ID/M365 migrations.
  • Network & Zone Security: Implement network security and segmentation across our three zones (Corporate, Missions, SatOPS), including the overlay for OT and the SatOPS ground segment.
  • Vulnerability Management & Incident Response: Scan, prioritize, remediate, and verify vulnerabilities; build detection, alerting, playbooks, and hands-on investigation/recovery.
  • Automation & Architecture: Automate security operations via PowerShell/scripting; contribute to technical roadmaps, document controls, and serve as a technical security resource.
  • Compliance & Governance: Implement technical controls behind the Statement of Applicability and produce evidence for ISO 27001 certification and NIS2 compliance.
  • IT Operations & Support: Co-own and deliver day-to-day service desk support, troubleshooting endpoint/user issues, Microsoft 365, onboarding/offboarding, and hardware/AV lifecycles.

Qualifications

Experience: 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience in IT security engineering or SecOps specifically building or maturing controls from scratch combined with solid IT support experience. Experience from regulated, manufacturing, critical-infrastructure, or OT environments is an advantage (space experience is not required).

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Hands-on security engineering across endpoints, identity, cloud, and networks.
  • Microsoft security stack: Entra ID, Conditional Access, Intune, M365 security, Defender (EDR), and ideally Sentinel or a comparable SIEM.
  • Hardening baselines (CIS), patch management, and vulnerability scanning.
  • Network security: Firewalls, segmentation, VPNs, and traffic monitoring.
  • Scripting and automation with PowerShell.
  • Incident response, triage, and log analysis.

Standards & Compliance: Solid working knowledge of ISO/IEC 27001 and NIS2 requirements; awareness of OT / IEC 62443 is a strong plus.

Education & Certifications: Degree in IT/cybersecurity or equivalent proven experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft SC-200/AZ-500/SC-100, CompTIA Security+/CySA+, or GIAC GSEC/GCIH) are an advantage.

Personal Attributes: A builder mindset with strong initiative; pragmatic and risk-oriented; structured with audit-ready documentation; and a clear, discreet communicator who collaborates well across technical and non-technical teams.
