Senior Group Legal Counsel
Fertin Pharma A/S
Fertin Pharma is looking for a Senior Group Legal Counsel who combines strong legal judgement with commercial perspective and the confidence to advise at executive level. You will be entrusted with complex, high-impact matters where the legal path is not always defined—and where your ability to set direction, balance risk and opportunity, and turn complexity into decisive advice will directly influence business outcomes.
Reporting to the VP, Head of Legal, Regulatory and QA, you will operate as a senior individual contributor and legal owner across key business areas. Although the role has no direct line management responsibility, it carries a clear functional leadership mandate: you will shape legal strategy, challenge and support senior stakeholders, lead cross-functional initiatives and set standards for how Legal enables the organisation.
Your mandate
- Strategic legal leadership: Develop and implement legal strategies and risk mitigation frameworks for key business areas, aligned with Fertin’s business objectives, group requirements and legal risk appetite.
- Executive and senior stakeholder counsel: Provide expert, commercially pragmatic legal advice to senior management and cross-functional leaders on complex legal, commercial, regulatory, governance and reputational matters.
- Commercial contracts and business support: Own the legal strategy, negotiation approach and risk position for material commercial agreements, including customer, supplier, development, manufacturing, licensing and strategic collaboration arrangements.
- IP and confidential know-how: Lead the legal framework for protecting Fertin’s IP, know-how and confidential information in commercial and R&D collaborations, including ownership, access rights, confidentiality and contractual protections
- Compliance/GDPR: Lead and implement legal compliance and data protection frameworks in relevant areas, including GDPR, confidentiality, sanctions, third-party risk and group policies, in coordination with PMI Legal where relevant.
- Regulatory, quality and product-related legal matters: Act as legal owner for strategic input into regulatory, quality and product-related matters, identifying legal risks and developing practical solutions across functions and jurisdictions.
- Corporate governance: Develop and implement governance processes, powers of attorney, corporate approvals, board/management documentation and internal legal policies to support clear decision-making and accountability.
- Disputes and claims: Lead the legal handling of disputes, claims and settlement strategies, including legal assessment, risk exposure, negotiation strategy and coordination with external counsel.
- Group and intercompany matters: Support legal structuring and documentation for intercompany arrangements, intra-group services and group governance matters, ensuring clear responsibilities and alignment with business, tax and Finance stakeholders.
- Legal processes, templates and standards: Develop and improve legal processes, contract standards, templates, playbooks and ways of working to strengthen quality, efficiency, consistency and risk management across the organisation.
- AI adoption in Legal: Lead responsible use of AI tools within Legal, including identifying use cases, setting governance principles and ensuring confidentiality, quality and legal risk controls.
- You hold a Master of Laws, cand.jur., cand.merc.jur. or an equivalent legal qualification.
- You bring at least five years of relevant experience from an international in-house legal function and/or a law firm, with a track record that demonstrates senior-level judgement and ownership.
- You have substantial experience with sophisticated commercial agreements and legal risk management; experience within compliance, governance, IP or regulated industries will be a strong advantage.
- You are comfortable operating where matters are complex, cross-border or ambiguous, and you know when to decide, challenge, involve others or escalate.
- You can move confidently between strategic advice and hands-on execution—from executive counsel and negotiation strategy to drafting, implementation and follow-through.
- You communicate with authority and clarity, build credibility quickly and can influence stakeholders without relying on formal management authority.
- You are commercially pragmatic without compromising legal integrity, and you are motivated by building solutions and standards that last.
This role offers the opportunity to influence decisions close to the business, own matters of strategic importance and leave a visible mark on how Legal operates across Fertin Pharma. Your success will be reflected not only in sound legal outcomes, but also in stronger decision-making, clearer risk ownership and legal frameworks that enable the organisation to move forward with confidence.
