(Technical) Patent Specialist – Cellular Standards

Technology Standards drives innovation and intellectual property management. You will be part of a large global team of world-class technical patent specialists managing Nokia’s leading 5G and 6G standard essential patent portfolio. You will work closely with inventors and 3GPP standards delegates to identify and protect high value 5G and 6G inventions, from idealization to claim-charting phase. Besides, you will also work with the patent associates to create high-quality patents, extending your understanding (beyond the technology) toward patent prosecution. With your technical expertise and seamless link to patent prosecution and monetization activities, you will add further value in our world-class patent portfolio development. How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn
- Work with inventors to enable high value 5G and 6G invention disclosures in your technology expertise area, evaluate invention disclosures and make filing decisions.
- Claim charting to the 5G and 6G specifications, value assessment of patent families.
- Promote a culture of innovation in the company where the technical patent specialists play a central role working closely with the inventors and the patent associates.
- A PhD in telecommunications or a related field, or an MSc with substantial research experience.
- Professional experience in patenting, a good understanding of patent processes, and hands-on experience in invention evaluation and claim charting.
- Good knowledge of 5G and/or 6G systems and 3GPP processes, with expertise in at least one key 3GPP technology area: physical-layer design or radio protocols.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet demanding deadlines.
- It would be nice if you also had:
- Familiarity with AI tools used in patenting and/or standards research.
