Software Developer, Data Acquisition Team

Norlys Energy Trading A/S

Data is a competitive advantage. Help us acquire it.

Data supports trading decisions, helps us enter new markets faster, and enables us to respond to changing market conditions. As a Software Developer in our Data Acquisition Team, you will help build the systems, frameworks and tools that give traders and quantitative analysts reliable access to high-quality data.

You will join an important area for the business, with room to influence how we build and operate data acquisition at scale.

The team

The Data Acquisition Team is part of Trading Data, the department responsible for trading data and the platforms that enable it across Norlys Energy Trading. We collect, validate, and deliver market intelligence from a wide range of external sources, supporting the business in scaling trading operations, entering new markets, and responding quickly to market opportunities and changes.

The team works closely with traders, quantitative analysts, cloud engineers, and data management specialists to create a reliable flow of data from external sources into our data platforms.

The role

As a Software Developer in the Data Acquisition Team, you will help us build and operate data acquisition at scale. The role goes beyond developing and maintaining individual integrations. You will contribute to reusable frameworks, internal tooling, automation, and engineering standards that make it easier to work reliably with hundreds of data sources.

You will also build your understanding of the energy trading domain and use that knowledge to make better technical decisions. As the area develops, you will have the opportunity to help shape frameworks, tooling, and engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

Your work will combine hands-on software development with improvements to the frameworks and practices that support reliable data acquisition. You will:

  • Develop and maintain data acquisition solutions and integrations.
  • Build and improve reusable frameworks, libraries and internal developer tooling.
  • Develop monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards to improve observability.
  • Build reliable solutions with robust error handling and automated recovery.
  • Collaborate with traders, quantitative analysts, and domain experts to understand business needs.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and the long-term development of the platform.
  • Help establish and evolve engineering standards and best practices for data acquisition.
  • Use automation and AI-assisted development practices to improve engineering productivity and quality.

If you enjoy working with data and take satisfaction in making sure it is structured, reliable and ready to use, you will feel at home in this team. You will build a strong understanding of energy trading data and play an important role in making sure it is available and trustworthy at scale.

- Henrik Hovgaard Kristensen, Head of Trading Data

  • A structured and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to take ownership and work proactively.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Familiarity with time series data.
  • Hands-on experience building cloud-native applications.
  • A background in developing data pipelines.

What we offer

You will join a highly skilled and collaborative engineering environment where you can develop both your technical skills and your understanding of energy trading.

  • The opportunity to work with modern cloud technologies and AI-assisted development practices.
  • Close collaboration with colleagues across technical and trading disciplines.
  • The opportunity to develop deep domain knowledge alongside your engineering expertise.
  • An active staff association with a range of social events.
