Lead Infrastructure Project Manager

In this role, you will set the standard for deployment project management, own standard reporting for the deployment project portfolio, and drive maturity across the project management function. You will also be accountable for platform planning and performance disciplines, including the 5-year costed lifecycle roadmap, resource and workforce planning, financial performance management, forecasting and Operational Planning. For selected high-stakes initiatives, you will act as lead project manager. The role is aligned to SFIA Level 5 and requires senior stakeholder confidence, strong financial and delivery judgement. Some travel is expected.

The role ensures deployment standards, portfolio reporting, lifecycle planning, resource planning and financial performance are clear, consistent and decision-ready across the platform. You will work under broad direction, provide functional leadership to project managers, and take direct Senior Project Manager accountability only for selected high-stakes or cross-cutting initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Functional leadership and deployment project oversight
- Set and maintain deployment project management standards, including planning, RAID, dependencies, decisions, financial tracking, reporting, governance and closure.
- Drive continuous learning and maturity lift by embedding lessons learned and improving repeatability, artefact quality and governance inputs.
- Coach and challenge project managers on delivery discipline, integration, decision readiness, stakeholder management and financial control.
- Own standard reporting for the deployment project portfolio, ensuring consistent status, forecast, dependency, RAID and SteerCo inputs.
- Define common templates, reporting standards and quality expectations.
- Consolidate project status, financials, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions and trade-offs into senior governance reporting.
- Act as lead project manager for selected high-stakes or cross-cutting initiatives, where senior orchestration is required.
- Use high-stakes projects to test and improve deployment standards and lessons learned.
- Drive platform financial performance management, including CAPEX/OPEX profiling, forecasting, actuals, variance analysis, risk reporting and decision-ready insights.
- Drive and efficiently maintain the 5-year costed Edge Platform lifecycle roadmap.
- Lead Edge Platform Operational Planning, including annual budgeting.
- Own platform resource and workforce planning.
- Deployment standards, portfolio project reports, integrated plans, 5-year costed lifecycle roadmap, resource and workforce plans, dependency maps, RAID logs, decision logs, SteerCo materials, financial reports and forecasts.
- Governance updates, lean validation records, service transition inputs, business case inputs, lessons learned, maturity actions and project closure reports.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience setting project management standards and improving delivery maturity in global technology organisations.
- Experience acting as functional lead for project managers, including coaching, quality review and methods improvement.
- Able to step in as lead project manager for selected high-stakes initiatives.
- Hands-on financial management experience, including platform financial performance, CAPEX/OPEX profiling, forecasting, budget planning, cost control and variance management.
- Experience with platform planning, lifecycle roadmaps and costing, resource management and workforce planning.
- Experience with Operational Planning, including annual budgeting, or comparable enterprise budget cycles.
- Demonstrated experience working with infrastructure platforms, data centre environments, lifecycle roadmaps or large-scale technology infrastructure services.
- Strong senior stakeholder management skills, with the ability to turn project-level signals into portfolio-level decisions and trade-offs.
- Experience within ports, container terminals, logistics, manufacturing, industrial automation or other operational technology environments.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for IT/OT environments, high-availability infrastructure, disaster recovery and business continuity.
- Relevant certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL or equivalent project, service management or infrastructure credentials.
