Principal Strategy Consultant - Data & Analytics
Danske Bank
Are you an experienced strategy professional who wants to accelerate your career by driving complex strategy development at the intersection of business, technology, data, AI and analytics in one of the largest financial institutions in Northern Europe? Do you combine a strong strategy consulting toolbox with a solid understanding of how modern Data & Analytics capabilities are built and scaled in large organisations? If yes, then we would like to hear from you.
About The Team
We are responsible for defining, developing and driving the execution of Danske Bank’s data, AI and analytics strategy. Partnering with key stakeholders across the Group, we ensure strong strategic and financial planning, clear alignment of ambitions and tangible progress on the initiatives that enable Danske Bank to become more data-driven.
We work closely with business units, technology teams, product areas and senior leadership to shape priorities across enterprise data platforms, data products, advanced analytics, machine learning, GenAI, governance and operating models.
We are an international team with a diverse mix of backgrounds from banking, consulting, technology and transformation. At Danske Bank, success comes from teaming up, maintaining an open mind and collectively owning what we do while striving for high-quality results. We expect these are qualities you will also bring to the role.
About The Role
We are looking for an experienced strategy consultant with a strong strategy consulting toolbox and a solid understanding of Data & Analytics from both a business and technology perspective.
You should be able to translate complex technical topics into clear strategic choices, business implications and executive-level narratives. You do not need to be a hands-on engineer, but you should have sufficient technical fluency to engage credibly with specialists on topics such as enterprise data platforms, cloud-based data architecture, data products, machine learning, GenAI, MLOps, LLMOps, data governance and responsible AI.
The right candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be proactive and enjoy both planned and ad hoc tasks. The daily work is dynamic and will rarely go exactly as expected, which will ensure both personal and professional development.
As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for your own assignments from day one. We trust that you drive and manage tasks to deliver great results, both independently and through other team members. You must be a strong team player who finds it energising to work at executive level, while also being ready to roll up your sleeves and deep-dive into complex topics.
Key Responsibilities Of The Role
In this role, you will:
- Lead strategic analysis and problem-solving across Data & Analytics topics, turning complex business and technology challenges into tangible recommendations
- Support the development and execution of Danske Bank’s data, AI and analytics strategy, including priorities related to enterprise data platforms, data products, machine learning and GenAI

- Drive strategy projects from problem definition to recommendation and execution planning
- Prepare high-quality executive material, including strategic narratives, decision papers, business cases and transformation roadmaps
- Support strategic and financial planning for Data & Analytics initiatives
- Provide fact-based recommendations on operating models, delivery structures, governance and capability-building across Data & Analytics
- Engage senior stakeholders across the Group and ensure alignment across business, technology and risk perspectives
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead both qualitative and quantitative strategic analysis
- Strong strategic thinking combined with technical curiosity and a practical understanding of how Data & Analytics capabilities are implemented in large organisations
- Experience with topics such as enterprise data platforms (ideally Databricks), data products, cloud data infrastructure, AI & analytics solutions, machine learning, GenAI and data governance
- The ability to break down complex technical topics into clear, concise and business-relevant communication
- Strong project and stakeholder management skills in cross-functional settings and towards executive management
- A high level of integrity and work ethic, and a proactive can-do mentality
- The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment where priorities can change quickly
- Deep experience in PowerPoint, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- A strong interest in financial services, strategic planning and the role of data, AI and analytics as enablers of business outcomes
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance or a related field
- 5-10 years of experience, depending on seniority, in strategy consulting, in-house strategy, transformation, technology strategy or Data & Analytics transformation
- Experience from banking, financial services or another highly regulated industry is preferred
- Proven track record of leading or contributing to complex strategy and transformation projects
- Experience with Data & Analytics transformation, including one or more of the following areas:
