Become Our New Risk Engineer and Ensure the Successful Implementation & Operation of Renewable Energy Systems, While Safeguarding Against Potential Risks

As our new Risk Engineer you will use your passion for renewable energy in risk management to ensure the success and sustainability of renewable energy projects, while safegurading against potential risks. You will work closely with project managers, technical teams, suppliers and manufacturers etc. externally, while co-operating closely with Underwriters and other Risk Engineers internally.

What Will You Do?

As our Risk Engineer specializing in Renewable Energy you will be primarily responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing risks associated with renewable energy projects. Externally the role involves working closely with project managers, technical teams, suppliers and manufacturers etc. while internally you will have close cooperation with our Underwriters and other Risk Engineers all to ensure the successful implementation and operation of renewable energy systems while minimizing potential risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, hydroelectric, and other renewable technologies.
  • Risk Mitigation: Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address identified risks and ensure project success.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to renewable energy and risk management.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data from various sources to identify potential risks and trends in renewable energy projects.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, technical teams, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to address risk-related issues. Support and assist our Claims department and Loss adjusters for evaluation of technical aspects of claims and incidents.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and presentations on risk assessments, findings, and recommendations for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Training: Conduct training sessions for project teams and stakeholders on risk management practices and methodologies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest advancements in renewable energy technologies and risk management practices to continuously improve risk management processes.

The position requires occasional travel to project sites and meetings with stakeholders. The Risk Engineer must be comfortable working in both office and field environments, depending on project needs.

The position will ideally be based in Copenhagen, however for the right candidate other RiskPoint offices will be considered, alongside the possibility of working hybrid.

About You

We are looking for someone who has expertise and experience in the renewable energy segement ideally within more technologies, onshore and offshore, and preferably knowledge in insurance risk engineering.

You are driven by intellectual curiosity as well as interest, willingness to further expand your knowledge in other renewable technologies, and are motivated by risk relevant topics. This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented individual with a passion for renewable energy and a strong background in risk management. The Risk Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the success and sustainability of renewable energy projects while safeguarding against potential risks.

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering; Mechanical, Renewable or other relevant education
  • Preferably 3 -5 years engineering experience in renewable energy (construction/design/operation in the industry);
  • Knowledge in hazard identification and risk management topics in the industry
  • Knowledge of relevant internationally recognized industry standards in design/loss prevention/fire protection i.e. IEC 61400 for Windturbines, UL9540 for BESS etc.
  • Preferably experience in insurance risk engineering or claims and knowledge of underwriting processes
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to thoroughly review and analyze complex data and documents
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to identify and address potential risks effectively
  • Team Player: Collaborative mindset to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders

Spoken and written fluency in English is essential for this role. Other langauges are an advantage.
