Event and Community Specialist to the Communications team at BII

Then this could be the perfect opportunity for you at BioInnovation Institute (BII), where we are looking for an Event and Community Engagement Specialist to support the Communications team for 12 months, starting mid-October.

The BioInnovation Institute (BII) is a Danish non-profit foundation established by the Novo Nordisk Foundation in 2018. Its mission is to accelerate research and startups to bring forward bold solutions that improve human and planetary health. BII supports collaborative, interdisciplinary innovation across Life Sciences, Quantum Science, and Deep Tech, helping transform cutting-edge research into viable companies so that new discoveries can deliver real impact for people and society.

As our new Communication and Community Engagement Specialist, you will play a central role in leading and executing our many events as well as facilitating our vibrant community both in the BII building and hybrid across our European offices.

For this specific role, we are looking for someone who can cover for our Communication and Community Engagement Specialist, ensuring that our most important ecosystem stakeholders join our events for the benefit of BII and our startups.

Additionally, this role will require you to cultivate a strong relationship within the community, translating feedback from across the organization into strategic and operational community-building initiatives.

In This Role You Will

  • Lead, conceptualize and execute our two flagship events – Demo Day and Innovation Day – as well as our other smaller community and ecosystem events such as Town Hall meetings, community onboarding etc.
  • Act as main organizational contact and work closely with the organization’s various teams to ensure accurate representation of the organization at internal and external strategic events and conferences.
  • Keep a comprehensive overview of all activities across the venue as well as the most important event stakeholders.
  • Maintain and develop all organizational merchandise and ensure that this is strategically tied to the organization’s vision and mission, purpose and key messages.
  • Lead, conceptualize and execute BII’s strong community in the BII HQ as well across our European offices, ensuring it strategically ties to BII’s vision, mission and values.

Professional And Personal Qualifications

You will report directly to the Head of Communication and join a team of dedicated communication specialists, working across functions such as internal communication, external communication, marketing, events, community building, and public affairs.

Ideally, You Bring The Following Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. journalism, communications, media studies).
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • High proficiency in PowerPoint and Word, preferably also experience with Canva and LinkedIn.
  • Maintain attention to detail while keeping an overview of priorities and deadlines.
  • Have strong coordination skills and proven experience in coordinating among many stakeholders while tackling many tasks at the same time.
  • Proficiency in English at a professional level, both written and spoken.

In addition to the above, you are comfortable managing multiple priorities with discretion and attention to detail. You thrive in a fast-paced environment with many stakeholders and take pride in creating structure, anticipating needs, and ensuring smooth coordination and high-quality delivery across tasks, schedules, and stakeholders.
