Senior Space Operations Engineer for Space Inventor


Space Operations Engineer Engineer responsible for executing and leading day-to-day satellite missions execution as well as supporting early phase design and implementation at system level ensuring operability and interface. This includes leading operations team efforts, planning and executing critical mission phases and being part of on-call rotas. Your hands-on expertise in satellite operations will include building timelines, creating procedures, running system tests and doing reporting. Sometimes this role will be executed in a high-pressure environment.

Your Responsibilities

  • Configuring and utilising space and ground segment for mission execution
  • Coordination and prioritisation across a fleet of multiple assets, always aware of system state
  • Creation, validation and execution of mission control procedures
  • Provide operations training to colleagues and clients
  • Write mission operations plans and execute them until end of life or mission handover
  • Coordinate anomaly response and corrective actions towards mission continuity
  • Plan and execute System Validation Tests , simulations and critical operations
  • Work with ground segment team, suppliers and service providers to configure, maintain and enhance the ground infrastructure, including ground stations
  • Coordinate with sales engineers, project managers and system engineering on preliminary and critical design of the system, including reviews at system level
  • Ownership of operational interface requirements and ground segment requirements
  • Implement strategic improvements for current and future missions


Qualifications

  • Experience in spacecraft operations
  • Understanding of telemetry and commanding concepts
  • Data analysis and anomaly resolution strategies
  • Onboard autonomy and on-ground automation knowledge
  • Familiarity with space industry standards and satellite communication protocols
  • Expertise in Linux, networking (TCP/IP) and radio communications
  • Scripting, devops and automation skills (Python, Git, Bash)
  • Working in a structured, concise and well-documented manner
  • Prior exposure to mission planning, system constraint management, payload tasking and data product distribution is a plus
