About Alpine Business Consulting
Alpine Business Consulting is a specialized team focused on fixing enterprise performance management and reporting systems. Too often, companies invest in complex planning tools only to find that the implementation was rushed or poorly managed. This leaves finance teams struggling with inconsistent numbers and month end closes that take far too long. We step in to configure these systems properly or build new structures correctly from the beginning.
Our consultants bring years of real-world experience to every project. We do not use client engagements as training grounds for junior staff. Instead, we provide fixed price quotes and focus on providing a single source of truth that finance teams can rely on. We prioritize documentation that a client team can actually use, ensuring they remain independent once our work is done. This role is a part time contract position and is fully remote, allowing you to work from your own environment while supporting our oversight of automated systems.

The role
As a Model Behavior Monitor, you will support our consultants by observing and auditing the outputs of automated models used in reporting and data analysis. In the current consulting climate, many organizations are attempting to use automated tools to summarize financial data or predict trends. However, these models often drift or provide inaccurate information if not monitored closely. Your job is to act as a human check on these systems.
This is an entry level position intended for someone who is organized, observant, and skeptical of automated results. You will work closely with our senior team to ensure that the data being presented to clients is clean and reliable. Because this role is fully remote, you will need to be effective at managing your own schedule and communicating through written documentation. The pay for this position is competitive for the market and reflects the importance of accuracy in our work.

What you will be doing
  • Reviewing model outputs daily to identify inconsistencies or errors in data reporting.
  • Comparing automated summaries against source documents to ensure the single source of truth is maintained.
  • Documenting specific instances where a model fails to follow the intended configuration.
  • Assisting in the creation of training guides and handover documents for client teams.
  • Flagging unusual patterns in data that might indicate a need for system recalibration.
  • Maintaining a log of model performance to help senior consultants identify long term trends.
  • Collaborating with the team through remote communication tools to report findings.
  • Helping to verify that data migrations remain accurate throughout the project lifecycle.

What we need from you
  • A high level of attention to detail and a natural tendency to double check work.
  • Basic familiarity with spreadsheet software and how data is structured in a professional setting.
  • Strong writing skills for creating clear, plain spoken documentation of technical errors.
  • The ability to work independently in a fully remote environment without constant supervision.
  • A skeptical mindset that does not take automated or AI generated text at face value.
  • Willingness to learn the basics of enterprise performance management and financial reporting.
  • Consistency in performing repetitive checking tasks to a high standard of quality.
  • Reliable internet access and a professional approach to remote communication.

What the role offers
This position provides a chance to see how large scale financial systems actually function behind the scenes. You will work with senior consultants who value directness and honesty over corporate buzzwords. While this is an entry level role, the experience you gain in data integrity and system configuration is grounded in practical, real-world applications. We value the quiet work of monitoring and documentation that makes a project successful. You will have the flexibility of a part time, remote schedule while contributing to the reliability of systems that major companies use every day to make their most important decisions.
Our focus is always on leaving a client with a system that works predictably. By monitoring model behavior, you help us ensure that the tools we build remain a reliable resource for finance teams. We provide the necessary guidelines and support to help you understand what to look for, but we expect you to bring a sharp eye for detail to every task. This role is about maintaining the high standards of accuracy that our clients expect from Alpine Business Consulting.
