Senior Data Scientist
the LEGO Group
Just imagine turning manufacturing and engineering data into actionable insights that elevate every LEGO brick’s quality. Then make it real!
This Senior Data Scientist role sits within Data & Automation under Advanced Engineering at our Billund site. You’ll be building predictive data systems, drive quality assurance, enable process improvements and much more to stabilize production workflows across element and mould manufacturing.
Play your part in our team succeeding
We have unified many of the strong digital capabilities existing in Elements & Additive Engineering (E&AE), by combining Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), Data Science, and Software Automation capabilities into one unit - Advanced Engineering. It is our goal to elevate these capabilities and reinforce their importance and impact in the operational value chain.
Our ambition is to deploy these capabilities in E&AE and beyond, while creating a strong center of excellence in Data & Automation (D&A) within Advanced Engineering to secure critical digital capabilities for the future.
D&A is a young team that creates data insights for data-driven decision making on all organizational levels. We improve product quality and strengthen processes through data analysis. Also, we reduce tedious process steps to enable value-adding engineering productivity initiatives through low code / no code automation platforms for Engineering & Algorithmic modelling software.
In short - it is where digital simulations meet data science and process automation.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be essential for the D&A team to reach our goals, enable us to make the right prioritizations, leading the digital change and being a strong role model – not only for the team but also for our stakeholders and collaborators.
Core Responsibilities
- Predictive Modeling Drive the development of models to predict process quality, potential defects, and forecast maintenance schedules using techniques like statistical analysis, machine learning and AI models.
- Quality Assurance Drive the implementation of quality control algorithms and anomaly detection methods to monitor the operations processes and identify deviations or defects.
- Process Optimization Collaborate with engineers and value chain teams to optimize operations processes based on data-driven insights, aiming to understand and improve process stability and element and mould quality, as well as enabling faster technology development cycles.
- Communication and Visualization Ensure effective communication of findings and insights through data visualization and reports to cross-functional teams, stakeholders and external partners to develop operations solutions
- Data Cleaning and Preprocessing Responsible for the preparation of collected data by cleaning, organizing, and transforming it into a suitable format for visualization and analysis. Assess large data quantities and ensure the dimensional reduction of these data is handled in a way that minimizes the consequences of this reduction.
- Root Cause Analysis Engage in investigating and identifying the root causes of process issues or failures by analyzing historical data, helping in continuous improvement efforts.
- Capabilities Building Support in building capabilities within the LEGO Group to develop and enhance data science skills, knowledge and expertise to expand our Advanced Engineering roadmap and meet organizational goals.
- Data Collection Support in setting up data extractions methods to gather data from various existing sources. Also, identify data weaknesses and recommend where to secure sensor data, machine logs, and quality control measurements.
- Background in statistical modelling and data analysis spanning two or more years
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze, understand and illustrate data
- Experience in programming such as Python, R, etc. as well as experience with data visualization platforms such as Power BI,
- Experience in working with cloud services, such as Microsoft Azure, and data engineering platforms such as Databricks
- Strong ability to navigate complex data from various sources as well as experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load)
- A team player that strives to succeed in an ever-changing and challenging environment
- Organized and structured, independent, self-driven and proactive attitude
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience with GitHub
- Ability to construct Machine Learning models
- Advanced English
- Experience with Big Data, Manufacturing Data
- Knowledge of Additive Manufacturing and Injection Moulding technologies
