Product Developer - Regulated Pharma Product Development

Fertin Pharma A/S

Are you driven by innovation and passionate about developing regulated products that make a difference?

We are looking for a scientifically strong and commercially minded Product Developer with experience or strong interest in regulated product development within nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and smoke-free product categories (SFP).

The ideal candidate understands how to combine formulation science, oral delivery technologies, consumer experience, manufacturability, and regulatory requirements such as FDA, EMA, GMP, ICH, and PMTA into robust, scalable, and commercially relevant products.

Fertin Pharma is rooted in both pharmaceutical and nutraceutical technologies, giving us a unique foundation for developing innovative oral and intra-oral delivery systems. Our platforms include extruded gum, lozenges, and other oral dosage forms, developed with a strong focus on quality, efficacy, sensory performance, regulatory compliance, and consumer acceptability.

About The Job

As a Product Developer, you will play a key role in developing new products within NRT and smoke-free products — from formulation development, scale-up, CMC-documentation and commercial implementation.

You will work closely with colleagues across R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Manufacturing, and Commercial teams to ensure successful development and launch of regulated nicotine products in global markets.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop effective formulations for NRT and smoke-free products, including extruded gum, lozenges and other oral or intra-oral dosage forms.
  • Lead and support development activities from laboratory trials to full-scale production and commercial implementation.
  • Apply knowledge of pharmaceutical formulation principles, powder technology, tablet technology, excipients, active ingredients, release profiles, sensory performance, and process robustness.
  • Ensure development activities are aligned with relevant pharmaceutical and regulatory requirements, including FDA and EMA expectations for NRT products.
  • Ensure smoke-free product development through documentation and input relevant to PMTA submissions.
  • Design, execute, and evaluate laboratory and full scale trials to optimize product quality, manufacturability and stability.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, product specifications, development reports, lifecycle management, and regulatory submission packages.

Experience & Competencies

  • Master’s degree in pharmaceutical science, biotechnology, food science, engineering, or another relevant scientific discipline.
  • Experience in product development, formulation development, or process implementation within pharmaceutical NRT or smoke-free product industries.
  • Knowledge of NRT products, oral dosage forms, extruded chewing gum, lozenges, tablets, or nicotine delivery platforms is considered a strong advantage.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical development requirements, including formulation robustness, process control, quality documentation, and regulatory expectations.
  • Experience with or interest in FDA, EMA, GMP, ICH guidelines, and/or PMTA requirements.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and external partners.
  • Structured, proactive, and self-driven approach with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Customer-oriented mindset with the ability to balance efficacy, compliance, manufacturability, and overall product experience.

What We Offer

A dynamic work environment and a variety of exciting tasks. You will join an engaged and informal team where you will:

  • Play a key role in supporting a healthier lifestyle for consumers worldwide.
  • Work with leading pharmaceutical companies to develop products that support their business.
  • Become part of a dynamic team and an ambitious company committed to supporting customers professionally.
