Custom Clerk
DFDS Denmark
Do you dream of joining a team with dedicated colleagues in an international, large, pan-European transportation company? Our customs operations play a vital role in keeping supply chains running smoothly - and now, we’re looking for a Customs Clerk to join our team in Copenhagen!
Be part of the movement - and play your part.
DFDS operates customs activities across more than 13 individual locations in Europe, and from our head office in Copenhagen, we run our Danish customs activities, which include both import and export declarations, transit documents and other customs-related tasks. Our network of more than 200 customs employees across Europe all work to ensure that goods are safely and efficiently transported across borders either by DFDS or other carriers.
Compliance is essential and ensuring a continuous successful freight operation while adhering to all necessary regulations is paramount. We have ambitious goals for future growth and are looking for a new colleague for our local branch in Copenhagen.
About the role
As a Customs Clerk, you will be part of a relatively small, dedicated team in Denmark, that works closely together with our freight forwarders, sales teams and other stakeholders across our DFDS locations in Europe.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Be involved in all kinds of customs-related work, as well as customer service tasks related to customs issues and contact with different Danish Authorities, when needed.
-
Help ensure that our internal and external customs operations work efficiently to keep supply chain running.
-
Submit import, export and other declarations, but also be involved in other administrative tasks.
-
Contribute to ongoing optimization of production and processes, including coordination with our internal IT department and customers.
Our Danish team is relatively small, and therefore there is the opportunity to have a big impact on your own workday. You will be part of a larger network of employees and will quickly experience the close and good cooperation across our locations.
About you
To excel in this position, fluency in both spoken and written Danish and English is required. Additionally, the ideal candidate will:
-
Have experience with submitting customs documents
-
An understanding of EU customs regulations and basic tariff classification
-
Be able to handle unexpected customs issues and find compliant solutions
-
Have experience with customs systems (DMS)
-
Have attention to detail and the ability to work accurately with documentation
-
Have experience with customer contact
-
Enjoy working with people across borders and cultures and have a positive mindset
-
Being proactive, curious and having a self-motivated mindset
