Senior C# Software Engineer

To support this journey, we are expanding our engineering capabilities and are currently looking for two Senior Software Engineers to build and evolve the systems and services that support passenger travel across Europe.

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer at DFDS, you will work in an autonomous, agile team within the Technology & Innovation division with responsibility for designing, building, and running cloud‑native solutions that support our ferry and passenger experience across Europe.

You will modernise and evolve our application landscape towards an event‑driven, API‑first architecture and contribute to solutions that are highly available, scalable, and continuously deployable. Working closely with both technical and business stakeholders, you will influence technical decisions and help raise engineering standards within the team.

As one of our new Senior Software Engineers, you will be responsible for:

• Promote and implement engineering best practices within the team

• Design and build highly available cloud‑native services in C# .NET

• Shape and evolve our microservice and event‑driven architecture

• Continuously improve code quality, test automation, and deployment pipelines

• Apply and advocate SOLID principles through code reviews and mentoring

• Collaborate across teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.

• Leverage AI‑assisted tools to improve developer productivity and software quality

About you

In addition, we expect you have significant experience (typically 5+ years) with C# .NET and cloud development. We are also looking for engineers with an interest in and experience with AI-driven or agent-based development.
Knowledge and practical experience with all the following technologies and architectures is not a requirement, but a nice-to-have - we do, however, expect that you have experience with at least some of them:

• AWS (e.g., RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda)

• Version control systems (e.g. Azure DevOps and Git)

• Relational databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL)

• Cloud development

• Domain-Driven Design

• Containerisation (e.g. Docker and Kubernetes)

• Microservices using REST APIs and Event Driven Development

• Infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform)
