Should your dog be a volunteer visiting friend?

Aalborg FRI-TID

Your best furry friend will bring so much happiness if he - and you - become volunteer dog friends at the Astrupparken residential facility. This is home to adults with reduced physical and/or mental functioning who LOVE dogs!
The residents of Astrupparken love dogs - but unfortunately they don't have the opportunity to have a dog themselves. That's why they really want volunteers and their cute furry friends to come visit.
The residents would really like to have a visit from a large or medium-sized dog, who can come once a month for 1-1.5 hours.
If you have the opportunity, they would really like to have visitors in the afternoon between 4-8 pm or on weekends after 10 am. But the most important thing is of course that it suits both you, your dog and the residents' needs.
Residents really like to have individual visits, either in their own homes or on walks in the local area. A staff member will dress you well for the task and the target group, and they can be present during the visit - as needed.
The residents at Astrupsparken are adults with severely reduced physical and/or mental functioning. Some have no or limited spoken language. Several have complex needs such as developmental disabilities, attention deficit disorder, epilepsy, dementia, sensory challenges and mobility impairment.

As a volunteer dog friend in Astrupparken, you get:
A pleasant volunteer job with great human value
Opportunity to make a difference for people with challenges
You will be well prepared to volunteer for the target group, and Aalborg FRI-TID is always ready to provide sparring.

As a visiting dog owner, you are welcome to:
Be able to visit the housing facility approximately once a month for 1-2 hours.
Be available via email and phone.
Be over 18 years of age and have a clean criminal record.
Ensure that your dog is covered by statutory liability insurance.
Make sure your dog is not fed raw meat (BARF) or raw meat bones.
Document that your dog receives annual health checks and vaccinations from a veterinarian (e.g. via health book or passport).

Your best furry friend should:
Be between 2 and 10 years old.
Be healthy, fit and well-groomed when visiting.
Be obedient and be able to listen to commands such as “sit” and “cover”.
Stay seated even if you move away.
Come when you call.
Leave things alone that it must not take.
Be calm and well-socialized so that it thrives on meeting different people, including wheelchair users.
Wants to be in contact with people – even without treats or play.
Not afraid of loud noises or sudden movements.

We hope to hear from you!
