Service Architect – Backup Services

Aeven is looking for an experienced Service Architect to take ownership of our Backup Service area, with Commvault as the primary technology platform.
This is a key role for someone who combines deep technical understanding with commercial awareness, customer engagement skills, and the ability to bridge strategy, operations, and service development.
As Service Architect for Backup Services, you will be responsible for ensuring our backup offerings are technically strong, commercially sustainable, operationally efficient, and aligned with customer needs and requirements.
You will work closely with customers, operational teams, service owners, vendors, and commercial stakeholders to develop and mature our Backup Services across Aeven’s customer base.
Your Key Responsibilities
As Service Architect, you will be the overall architectural and service-level anchor for Backup Services. Your areas of responsibility will include:
- Acting as the subject matter expert for backup services, with Commvault as the main technology platform.
- Supporting customer engagements, including solution discussions, service design, clarification of requirements and technical sparring.
- Translating customer needs into scalable, secure, and operationally viable backup service designs.
- Providing architectural guidance and sparring to operational backup teams.
- Ensuring backup services are aligned with agreed service levels, compliance requirements, operational capabilities, and best practices.
- Maintaining the technical roadmap for the backup service area.
- Supporting financial overview of the service, including cost drivers, consumption, profitability, and service efficiency.
- Ensure and validate reporting, capacity reporting and customer chargeback reporting,
- Handling and optimizing license usage, vendor agreements, and capacity planning related to backup platforms.
- Contributing to pricing, service catalog updates, and commercial models for backup services.
- Supporting incident, problem, and change processes where architectural input is required.
- Driving continuous improvement across automation, reporting, standardization, resilience, and operational quality.
- Keeping up to date with developments in backup, recovery, cyber resilience, immutability, cloud backup, and disaster recovery technologies.
You are an experienced infrastructure or service architecture professional with a strong background in enterprise backup services. You understand both technology and business impact, and you are comfortable engaging with technical specialists, customers, vendors, and commercial stakeholders.
We expect that you have:
- Strong experience with Commvault, preferably in large enterprise or managed service environments.
- Working knowledge of other backup technologies such as IBM Spectrum Protect / TSM and NetBackup.
- Experience designing, operating, or governing backup and recovery services.
- Understanding backup architecture and principles, retention models, restore processes, data protection, disaster recovery, and cyber resilience.
- Experience working with service levels, operational processes, service catalogs, and managed services.
- Ability to engage with customers and translate requirements into robust service designs.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to provide guidance to operational teams.
- Commercial understanding, including cost models, license management, capacity planning, and service profitability.
- Experience with infrastructure environments across servers, storage, virtualization, databases, and cloud platforms.
- Great communication skills in English. Danish language skills are an advantage but not a requirement.
- Experience from an IT service provider, outsourcing, or enterprise infrastructure environment.
- Knowledge of regulated industries such as finance, pharma, public sector, or critical infrastructure.
- Experience with automation, compliance documentation, and audit support.
- Familar with cloud backup services, immutable storage, ransomware recovery, and air-gapped backup concepts.
- Vendor management experience.
- Lead backup modernization and cloud migration initiatives
- Backup automation and Infrastructure as Code.
- Capacity and cost planning
- VMware, Hyper-V, Kubernetes, and container protection.
- Storage technologies (SAN, NAS, Object Storage, S3-compatible storage).
- Database backup and recovery (SQL Server, Oracle, SAP HANA, S4hana, MySQL etc.).
- Protect Microsoft 365 and other SaaS platforms
In this role, you will help ensure that Aeven’s backup services remain reliable, scalable, secure, and commercially strong. You will be a trusted advisor to customers and internal stakeholders, and you will play an important part in developing services that protect business-critical data and support resilient IT operations.
