Production Leader

We are looking for a production leader for our site in Hillerød, Denmark. The Production Leader guides rotating day and night shifts, overseeing 24–30 Manufacturing Associates (operators) and ensures seamless production operation. Therefore, this role calls for a flexible leader who also gains energy from working odd hours due to our rotation.
The Production Leader models exemplary behavior: building teamwork and mutual support, following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure product quality and safety, sustaining productivity across all shifts, maintaining efficiency, and demonstrating professionalism through collaborative, respect and accountability.
The position
As our new Production Leader you will be working the same days as your team, following the color-shift rotation (5/2): odd weeks (Mon–Tue, Fri–Sun); even weeks (Wed–Thu). You practice visible, hands-on leadership on the shop floor.
As a leader you understand your role in the acknowledgement and development of each employee and the diversity of the employees who have different experiences and educational backgrounds. You also understand your role in promoting close and trust-based collaboration across functions and getting our medicine safely to the market.
Major responsibilities but are not limited to:
- Ensure high psychological safety on the team and create purpose and commitment.
- Building a high performing team by focusing on training and development of the individual.
- Clear communication and collaboration across the team and peers.
- Ensure identification of technical/compliance gaps and implementation of applicable plans/objectives.
- Recruitment of new team members.
- Scheduling of manufacturing activities, timely communication of scheduling changes/issues to staff and relevant stakeholders.
- Promote and facilitate systematic problem solving and continuous improvement on shop floor e.g., when troubleshooting process and equipment issues. Own timely deviation processing within the value stream, ensuring robust containment and effective countermeasures
Professional and personal qualifications
- Experience leading others in a diverse team in a production environment.
- Experience in conversation techniques, conflict handling, feedback tools and taking action on input.
- The ideal candidate has experience with supporting drug substance manufacturing or similar processes/Industry and is now eager to develop more on the people’s skills side.
- Able to set direction for a team while building trust and relations with their employees.
- High proficiency of the English language is a must.
- You must be able to work on a fixed shift schedule which includes work every second weekend.
- Driving and improving visual management systems.

The area
The area Drug Substance Manufacturing includes three value streams (DSM 1, 2, and 3) operating 24/7 covering upstream and downstream manufacture. You will lead one production team of 24–30 manufacturing associates in upstream, split across day and night shifts. You will report to a Value Stream Director and work closely with Production Leaders in other value streams, key stakeholders, and the Value Stream 1 leadership team.
