Manager for Operation support to Drug Substance Manufacturing

For our Hillerød site in Denmark, we are seeking an experienced Manager to lead our newly established Operation Support team in Drug Substance Manufacturing (DSM). Your team provides first-line, hands-on support to the manufacturing floor, enabling safe, compliant, and efficient 24/7 production. You will build the structure, priorities, and ways of working for the team, drive rapid issue resolution, remove obstacles, and ensure seamless production execution through close collaboration with Production Leaders, Value Stream Directors, and cross-functional partners.
You will report to the Value Stream 1 Director and work closely with Production Leaders in VS1 and your peer Operation Support leaders in Value Streams 2 and 3.
The area
The area Drug Substance Manufacturing comprises three value streams (DSM 1, 2, and 3) running 24/7 covering upstream and downstream operations. The Operation Support team is the manufacturing first-line support, closely connected to the shopfloor, partnering with Production Leaders and support functions to ensure robust and seamless execution.
Key responsibilities but are not limited to:
- Build and lead a high-performing Operation Support team with strong psychological safety, purpose, and commitment.
- Establish the operating model for 24/7 first-line support to manufacturing, ensuring operational stability at all hours.
- Drive plan adherence and on-time task execution by implementing visual management, data dashboards, and KPIs.
- Serve as the daily point of escalation for complex issues; coordinate cross-functional response and ensure follow-through.
- Sense of urgency and act as driver at critical issues on shopfloor; resolve emergencies quickly to minimize downtime and batch risk.
- Facilitate structured problem solving and continuous improvement; ensure robust containment and effective countermeasures.
- Enable seamless collaboration with MSAT, Engineering, Automation, QA, Documentation, Planning, OCC, and other stakeholders.
- Represent the manufacturing area during audits and inspections, ensuring consistent and clear responses. Communicate clearly and proactively across shifts and functions; ensure timely updates to leadership and stakeholders
Professional and personal qualifications
- Proven people leader with strong drive, urgency, and collaboration skills.
- Experience supporting drug substance manufacturing (upstream and/or downstream) or adjacent support functions in GMP biopharma.
- Demonstrated success in building teams, setting strategic direction, and leading change management.
- Ability to set clear priorities, foster trust, and develop employees while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills; effective at visual management and KPI-driven execution.
- High proficiency in English, written and verbal.
