Internal Channel and Employee Experience Lead

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Internal Channel and Employee Experience Lead to support the organization in all activities related to Internal Communications, among others, to lead the development, optimization, and management of our internal communication channels and applications. This includes oversight of the corporate intranet, digital communications platforms (such as video and design tools), and collaboration applications used to connect employees across the global organization.

This role is pivotal in ensuring our internal communication ecosystem is user-centric, strategically aligned, and technologically fit-for-purpose. The candidate is also to support and provide advisory services to departments on their internal communications agendas, this can include writing articles, developing communications plans and supporting in townhall activities. Additionally, the candidate will also work closely to support on the Quarterly Business Updates - global town halls, for the Executive Leadership Team.

The ideal candidate thrives in both strategic planning and hands-on execution and brings a strong people-first mindset. The candidate will work very closely with the Director of Leadership and Employee Communications and Content Strategy to help accelerate and execute on the goals within internal communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage internal communication channels and applications, including the intranet, digital content tools, and related collaboration platforms.
  • Develop and implement a long-term strategy for internal communication platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals and employee needs.
  • Collaborate closely with the IT team to evaluate, select, and maintain communications platforms and applications, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and future proof.
  • Establish and lead a network of intranet and application stakeholders to drive alignment, consistent structure, and shared ownership across the organization.
  • Partner with the Social Media Manager to ensure alignment between internal and external messaging where appropriate.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Content Manager to ensure the structure, design, and messaging within internal platforms, providing engaging and seamless user experience.
  • Continuously monitor platform performance, usability, and adoption, leveraging data and user feedback to inform improvements and enhancements.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in digital communication and workplace collaboration tools, bringing innovative ideas and best practices into our internal communication strategy.
  • Provide training and guidance to departments and business units to empower them to effectively use internal communication applications.
  • Support colleagues in planning and executing communication initiatives across platforms, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and strategic alignment.
  • Enable a self-service culture for internal communications by equipping content owners with tools, templates, and guidance.
  • Lead or support content production activities, including writing internal news articles and light video editing (e.g., clipping).
  • Support broader corporate branding initiatives, working in collaboration with internal teams and external agencies.
  • Support with the Quarterly Business Updates, global townhalls – and the Quarterly Leadership Updates, Executive Leadership to Leaders virtual townhalls.
  • Providing advisory support to departments and projects – undertaking the communications partner role – which could include creating communications plans and executing on various tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communication, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • 6 to 8+ years of experience in digital communications management, with a strong background in platform and application oversight—ideally within Life Sciences, Pharma, or Biotech.
  • Proven experience managing intranets, digital communication tools, and enterprise collaboration applications.
  • Proven experience in acting as a Communications Partner for Departments or Projects – demonstrating experience in preparing, leading and executing on communication plans.
  • Experience in writing internal communications articles, with an eye for identifying opportunities for communications which can be shared externally
  • Experience in preparing townhall presentations.
  • Strong understanding of IT collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, video platforms) and their role in internal communication ecosystems.
  • Skilled in both strategic planning and day-to-day operations of communication platforms.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and coach others to use communication tools effectively.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Collaborative, proactive, detailed, and solutions-oriented, with a strong people-first mindset.
  • Passionate about digital innovation and enhancing employee experience through technology.

Additional Information:

  • This position reports to the Director of Leadership and Employee Communications & Content Strategy within the Corporate Affairs Office.
  • Full-time, global position (37 hours per week).
  • International travel should be expected.
