UX Designer – Complex Technical Systems

DEIF A/S

Are you an experienced UX Designer who enjoys turning complex systems into clear, usable interfaces through hands-on design work? Do you thrive on creating wireframes, interaction designs, and prototypes that are built and used in real-world operations?

Then this opportunity at DEIF might be for you.

Hands-on. Technically strong. Fast in execution.
At DEIF, we develop advanced control solutions for decentralized power production and complex Energy Management Systems (EMS). We don’t just design interfaces – we design how people operate, monitor, and control highly complex energy systems.

We are currently looking for a UX Designer who can translate deep technical complexity into usable, correct, and operational user experiences. This is a hands-on role, where a large part of your daily work will be creating wireframes, interaction designs, and prototypes in close collaboration with engineers and domain experts.

Your role

Working closely with developers, domain experts, and the UX team, you will contribute with:

  • User flows and journeys
  • Information architecture for complex systems
  • Wireframes, interaction design, and prototypes

You will work across:

  • Embedded software in controller devices
  • PC Tools
  • Cloud‑based platforms controlling gensets, hybrid systems, and microgrids

“We are looking for an experienced, hands-on UX professional who will work closely with engineers and domain experts to design interfaces for complex energy systems used in real-world operations. You bring practical experience and can help guide the team towards good solutions.”, explains Vice President of Software Development, Allan Agerholm.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Translate complex system workflows into clear user flows and interaction design
  • Create low- and high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes (primarily in tools like Figma)
  • Ensure designs are technically realistic and can be implemented correctly
  • Collaborate closely with developers and domain experts to understand system logic and operator needs
  • Contribute to shared design patterns and consistency across products
  • Contribute to the integration of AI into the user insights and design process

Work location: The primary work location is Skive, but we are flexible regarding work arrangements to find the right candidate. For candidates based outside Denmark, a valid work permit is required – and DEIF can support the process.

Your profile
We are looking for a designer who thrives in technically complex environments and enjoys working close to implementation. We imagine that you have:

  • 3-5 years of UX experience, preferably within technical or specialized domains
  • Strong skills in interaction design, wireframing, and prototyping (e.g., Figma)
  • Experience working with system‑heavy or data‑heavy interfaces
  • The ability to quickly understand new technical domains
  • A pragmatic and structured way of working, with a strong focus on execution and delivery
  • Experience working closely with developers and technical specialists

Experience from energy, industrial systems, automation, maritime, or similar domains is an advantage – but not a requirement.

Why join DEIF?
At DEIF A/S, you’ll be part of a family-owned company with strong values and a culture built on trust, openness, and collaboration. You’ll experience a professional and highly engaged working environment, where we’re curious on each other’s perspectives and encourage respectful, honest dialogue that drives growth. Our strength lies in responsibility, teamwork, and the courage to innovate – that’s what drives us forward.

In addition to a role filled with exciting challenges, we offer you:

  • Flexible work arrangements, including home office days and access to satellite offices in Odense, Aalborg, and Silkeborg
  • The opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies
  • On-the-job training and knowledge sharing with skilled employees
  • In-house canteen and physiotherapist at our headquarters
  • Fitness breaks, social events, and much more supporting your wellbeing.
