A.P. Moller-Maersk is on a journey to accelerate the transformation of the various business units into an integrated, customer-centric, and technology-enabling company. This transformation process requires significant investments, new ways of working and collaboration across the business and functions. In this journey Group Treasury & Risk (T&R) plays a critical role by preserving, unlocking, and creating value for the company. Currently, the Global T&R organization consists of 71 Treasury professionals of 16 different nationalities that are split into 5 specialist functions at 5 locations. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Funding Professional to join our organization and head up the Head of Funding & Markets (F&M) function.

The role

As the Head of the F&M team, you will report directly to the Head of Treasury & Risk, who reports to the Group CFO, and be a member of the T&R leadership team. Here you will be recognized as an expert, who solves unique and complex issues with a broad impact on the business and provides high level advice to senior managers. Thus, you will be seen as an expert within, and beyond, your own function, who leads and sets direction through other managers globally.

The Head of F&M team will manage a team of 7 talented funding professionals who are characterized by having great engagement and high performance. The team is responsible for all external funding activities (cf. DCM, project financing, ECAs and corporate financing) of the A.P. Møller- Maersk Group and relationships with credit rating agencies, bond investors, banks, and export credit agencies. In addition, the team is responsible for managing the interest rate risk and financial counterparty risk on a group level, as well as other trade finance activities.

The position will give you an opportunity to lead the funding activities of a global company that is raising funds on parent company level and via JV’s. In the role you will be in close dialogue with internal stakeholders such as business units, Tax, FP&A, Investor Relations, Investment Analysis, Sustainability and external stakeholders, hence you can expect to be working in a dynamic environment characterized by a broad range of challenging and exciting tasks, where you will have a pivotal role in adding value to our global organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a high performing team that is equipped and well positioned to support and drive value creation throughout the company.
  • Be a trusted partner to business and finance communities, understanding the business needs and guide/provide pragmatic funding solutions incl. Green Financing.
  • Ensure that terms and conditions incl. pricing are the best available and that the refinancing risk is minimized by diversifying funding sources and ensuring a conservative maturity profile.
  • Pro-actively provide quality input on investment, divestment and M&A cases and develop treasury best practice.
  • Ensure Maersk subsidiaries and JV’s are funded efficiently and cost effectively through internal and external sources.

Who We Are Looking For

  • A self-starter with ability to initiate, progress and bring projects and work to closure.
  • A person with sound leadership skills and a practical mindset, who gets things done and can achieve outstanding results that will help to create and protect the value for the Group.
  • An individual that can take in and process information quickly, and likewise can draw conclusions in a way that people can understand.

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in finance, economics, accounting or a related field. MBA or similar advanced degree is preferred.
  • An experienced finance professional with at least 10 years relevant experience in funding/treasury.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills that can collaborate effectively in a cross-cultural and cross-functional setting, while managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Good commercial acumen and the ability to operate within a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on delivering strategic solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of funding strategies, treasury management, cash flow forecasting, risk management, and, as well as a high interest in dealing with international markets and capital markets.
