Overview
We are currently seeking a dynamic Applications Scientist with expert-level experience in Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) to join our fantastic team supporting instrument sales in the Nordic region. At the Waters Demonstration Laboratories, we contribute significantly to business growth by understanding our customers’ scientific challenges and providing solutions through our industry-leading LCMS platforms.
This position is based at our modern facility in Taastrup, Denmark, within the Applications Laboratory. As part of the Nordic applications team, you will apply your expertise in LCMS across a wide range of applications and sales support activities. The role involves travel across the Nordic countries to engage with customers, understand their requirements, and present results from sample analysis. Customer training and support are also essential components of the role. Travel is expected to be approximately 30%.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, personable scientist who has extensive experience in LCMS, strong sample analysis capabilities, and excellent demonstration skills to help customers make informed decisions about their next technological investment. Responsibilities
- Deliver knowledgeable and competitive instrument demonstrations and sample analyses to support customer engagement and regional growth.
- Serve as a technical expert in LCMS within the Nordic team, with a focus on MassLynx and waters_connect software.
- Offer application support and troubleshooting assistance to ensure customer satisfaction and instrument performance.
- Collaborate closely with Application Chemists and Instrument Sales teams within the wider European organization.
- Support early-stage sales pipeline development through laboratory projects, customer collaboration, and technical guidance.
- Provide scientific leadership to enhance expertise within the regional Applications Laboratory.
- Oversee routine maintenance and performance optimization of LCMS instruments to ensure consistent, high-quality result.
- Support the introduction of new technologies and lead demonstrations for both internal teams and customers.
- Deliver high-quality analytical reports and presentations that clearly communicate experimental results and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Stay current with emerging trends in LCMS technologies and applications and proactively integrate new knowledge into lab practices and customer engagements.
What will make you successful?
Education:
- BSc degree experience or equivalent experience in life sciences or a related field.
- Extensive LC-MS method development experience across various chromatography instruments, mass spectrometers, and software (MassLynx or Waters Connect preferred).
- Demonstrated proven experience in analytical, industrial, or commercial laboratories.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in quantitative and/or qualitative LC-MS techniques, including high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) and/or tandem MS (MS/MS).
- Flexibility to develop skills across different applications is needed, however we are keen to hear from candidates who have experience in any of the following areas: Metabolite Identification, Bio-analysis, ADME, Screening and structural elucidation, Materials Science, Food safety/screening (including PFAS), Environmental analysis (including PFAS).
- Competence in handling large datasets and performing statistical analysis or chemometrics.
- Ideally from a method development or QC background.
