About the role

The Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA) is seeking passionate and organized volunteers to serve as Committee Managers. You will manage the operations of one of IDA’s Specialized or Cross-Cutting Committees, coordinating with member organizations, IDA’s internal teams, and global stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Committee Coordination

  • Confirm and onboard new committee members based on selection forms, ensuring appropriate access to mailing lists, calendars, and shared platforms.
  • Lead regular bi-monthly committee meetings (virtual), including agenda development, minute-taking, and follow-ups.
  • Maintain up-to-date committee member records, Slack channels, and Google Drive folders.

Member Engagement

  • Provide onboarding materials and guidance to new members on the committee’s scope, meeting schedule, and participation expectations.
  • Facilitate continuous engagement by encouraging contributions to newsletters, co-authored publications, and advocacy materials.
  • Coordinate mid-year and end-of-year feedback surveys to evaluate member satisfaction and optimize committee activities.

Event Management & Webinars

  • Organize virtual or hybrid events including topic ideation, stakeholder outreach, speaker engagement, and dissemination planning.
  • Follow IDA’s standardized 16-step event management workflow, including concept note drafting, speaker logistics, calendar coordination, and CTA development.
  • Ensure events are added to the IDA website with customized RSVP and newsletter fields.

Content Development

  • Draft and contribute to event-related materials: concept notes, dissemination plans, post-event reports, and Calls to Action.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to publish committee updates and highlight member contributions.

Collaboration & Strategic Planning

  • Align committee activities with IDA’s broader strategy and thematic priorities (e.g., AMR, Digital Health, One Health, Climate Change).
  • Work with internal teams (Policy, Journal, Membership, and Communications) to maximize cross-functional synergies and partnership opportunities.

Requirements

Education & Background

  • Background in public/global health, biomedical sciences, policy, or a related field.
  • Experience in event management, stakeholder coordination, or committee-based collaboration is an advantage.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, remote environment.
  • Proficiency with digital tools including Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Teams, and Canva.

Values

  • Commitment to equity, science-based policy, and global health collaboration.
  • Motivation to contribute meaningfully to the mission and growth of a dynamic international network.

  • Gain direct experience with international cooperation, policy strategy, and advocacy coordination.

Skill Development

  • Strengthen project management, communications, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Contribute to technical writing, digital content creation, and strategic planning initiatives.

Impact & Flexibility

  • Influence the infectious disease agenda through knowledge-sharing and action-oriented dialogue.
  • Volunteer role with flexible hours and scheduling, ideal for students or working professionals.
