Core Responsibilities



  • Design Leadership Oversee the development of interactive play experiences, ensuring a cohesive integration of digital and physical components.
  • Interactive Play Development Drive the design and prototyping of innovative LEGO toys that incorporate physical movement, sensors, and digital play elements while exploring new technologies.
  • Prototyping and Testing Use physical materials and digital tools to prototype interactive experiences, refining designs through hands-on play testing with kids to ensure engagement and intuitiveness.
  • Collaboration Work closely with engineers, model designers, and digital teams to bring interactive concepts to life, ensuring alignment with LEGO's creative vision.
  • Creative Direction and Consumer Insights Define the creative direction for new concepts and leverage consumer insights to refine connected play experiences, ensuring designs resonate with users.
  • Mentorship and Communication Mentor designers to foster a culture of innovation, while effectively communicating and presenting design concepts to senior team members.

The Interactive Play Design Manager, you will be a visionary leader responsible for guiding the design and development of groundbreaking interactive play experiences. You will coordinate the integration of mechanical, electronic, and digital interactions, driving the prototyping and development of innovative LEGO toys that bring our products to life.

Do you have what it takes?



  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Toy Design, Industrial Design, Engineering, Game Design, Interaction Design, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in interaction design, with a proven track record in prototyping and innovation, particularly in designing interactive toys and connected play experiences.
  • Strong expertise in prototyping physical interactions, using materials like LEGO bricks, 3D printing, and mechatronics.
  • Experience with sensors, IoT, and interactive components (e.g., motion sensors, NFC, haptics, sound, motors).
  • Hands-on skills in prototyping tools, such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Micro bit, or Unity for interactive play experiences.
  • A deep understanding of play mechanics, toy safety, and child-centered design.
  • A passion for working with kids and using playtesting insights to refine toy experiences.
  • A collaborative approach, working across fields to bring interactive toys from concept to reality.
