EPFL invites applications for two fully funded PhD positions in the exploration of geometrical approaches to Markov diffusion processes, with the goal of designing more efficient AI algorithms. The positions are based in the LTS2 Lab, which offers a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment with strong collaborative ties across biology, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to both theoretical advancements and practical applications, including generative AI for molecular biology.

Requirements

– Outstanding MSc degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field

– Strong analytical background

– Proficiency or willingness to learn geometric deep learning, signal processing, statistics, and learning theory

– Self-driven, with strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking

– Professional command of English (written and spoken)

– Eligibility for and acceptance to the EPFL doctoral program in Electrical Engineering (separate application process)

– Submission of a motivation letter, detailed CV, contact information, and at least two references willing to provide recommendation letters

Main Duties

– Develop and conduct independent dissertation research

– Collaborate closely with academic and industry partners

– Design and execute experiments; analyze and interpret results

– Prepare scientific articles for peer-reviewed publication

– Present findings at international conferences

– Supervise student projects
