Simon Fraser University’s Sustainable Optoelectronics Research Group, led by Prof. Vincenzo Pecunia, invites applications for a PhD position focused on the development of advanced printable organic photodetectors. This research aims to advance next-generation light-sensing technologies for a wide range of applications in sustainability and quality of life enhancement.
Applicants will be enrolled in the PhD program in Sustainable Energy Engineering and will conduct research at the intersection of materials science, device fabrication, and optoelectronics.
Requirements
– Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Engineering Science, Mechatronics Systems Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Nanotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or closely related fields
– Proven experience in optoelectronic device fabrication and characterization, as well as materials deposition and characterization
– Academic excellence with a minimum cumulative GPA of 80% or higher in all prior degrees
– Excellent command of the English language
– Compliance with Simon Fraser University’s graduate admission requirements
– Eligibility for a Canadian study permit (if not a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident)
– Availability to commence the PhD program in January 2026
