We are looking for a highly experienced Digital Design Director who brings deep functional expertise in Digital and UX Design, as well as strong people leadership, to help shape the future of our digital products and platforms.

Important requirement In order to be considered, please include a visual portfolio in your application (in addition to your CV).

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team of UI and UX designers, championing a culture of collaboration, quality, creativity, and rapid iteration.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including educators, product managers, Engineering, Brand, and Product marketing, to execute our design strategy which prioritizes user needs while driving innovation.

  • Oversee digital design processes from concept to launch, ensuring that all digital products meet the highest standards of quality and are delivered on time.

  • Within LEGO Education’s Product Experience (PX) team, contribute as a member of our Design LT to help establish strong ways of working that can serve as inspiration across our helix organization.

Play Your Part in Our Team Succeeding

Starting with the initial release of LEGO MINDSTORMS in 1998, LEGO Education has been at the forefront of building experiences that merge digital and physical play. Today, we have built on this history with products like LEGO Education SPIKE Prime and LEGO Education SPIKE Essential, and our latest product, LEGO Education Science.

Creating these new types of learning and play opportunities for children requires a highly innovative, collaborative, and iterative mentality and approach. The Digital Design Lead role at LEGO Education offers a rare opportunity to participate in shaping the future experience of hands-on learning. It’s an exciting chance to build impactful experiences that inspire students and educators around the world.

The position reports to the Head of Design and will oversee UI Design, UX Design and illustration. The role will be responsible for managing a team of currently 8 people, and we are looking for a strong people leader with deep functional skills who can create an engaging and inspiring “playground” for everyone within the team.

Do You Have What It Takes?

  • Extensive expertise and proven experience in digital design, UI and UX design, with a world-class portfolio showcasing your work. Experience working with educational products or services is a plus.

  • Exceptional leadership skills with a proven track record of building and managing high-performing, happy teams that prioritize quality and speed.

  • A pragmatic doer, a positive mindset and a can-do attitude that enables you to act as a hands-on role model and mentor, leading by example and not afraid of diving into the work yourself.

  • A deep understanding of design thinking methodologies and agile principles—especially in the context of education is a plus.

  • Expert-level proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.

  • Solid experience in the development of technology-enabled consumer products (across both physical and digital domains) including close collaboration with SW and FW engineers.
  • Extensive experience working with design systems on a deep technical level.
  • Experience working as part of a cross-functional leadership team.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present and articulate design concepts to diverse audiences.

  • A passion for education, play, and creativity, aligned with LEGO Education’s values, mission, and strategy.
