In line to support and execute on Genmab´s 2030 vision, we are looking for an experienced Associate Director, R&D Strategic Initiatives to support the project portfolio.
About The Department
The R&D Strategic Initiatives team supports the continued build, strengthening and expansion of the Genmab R&D engine. The projects are anchored within the R&D&T leadership team, and this role will thus have large exposure to senior management. You will join a small, energetic, dedicated team of Enterprise Project Managers based across US, DK and NL, part of our R&D Operations department.
The position will report to the Director, R&D Strategic Initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with the relevant Enterprise Project Board Executive/Sponsor, the Global Head of Portfolio & Project Management, Head of R&D Ops and other cross functional leaders including those in Technical Operations – to define, align and deliver on strategic project objectives that support enterprise priorities:
- Drive the planning and execution of strategic initiatives within Technical Operations and beyond, including R&D and enterprise-wide priorities. Ensure alignment with organizational goals, timelines, and resource constraints.
- Develop and manage integrated project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals across R&D, Tech Ops and enabling functions.
- Establish and lead appropriate governance structures to monitor progress, manage risks, and drive informed decision-making. Represent projects at governance forums, including the R&D Leadership Team and Steering Committees.
- Drive the cross functional project team to execute the project plan to meet/exceed the operational goals by providing project management and team leadership.
- Establish appropriate project governance to ensure overview and communication of progress and status tracking and to represent the project team at relevant governance meetings
- Establish and foster a high-performance team culture and efficient team dynamics
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks, resolve issues, and implement contingency plans. Transform challenges into growth opportunities for the team and organization.
- Manage project information, documentation, and team communications to ensure timely and accurate communication of project strategy and operational status for review at relevant governance bodies and with other stakeholders.
- Ensure clear, consistent, and timely communication across all levels of the organization, including preparation of documentation and updates for governance bodies and stakeholders.
- Serve as a culture carrier, modeling Genmab’s core values and promoting an inclusive, growth-minded environment that supports both team and individual success
- Contribute to the evolution of enterprise project management tools and methodologies in collaboration with the R&D Strategic Initiatives team. Champion scalable, efficient project management practices across the organization.
- You have a relevant Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Engineering or Business Management. Masters degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of work experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech company is required
- 5+ years PM experience managing global cross-functional project management, including process improvement / change projects / innovation
- You could have previous experience from consulting
- You are well-organized and have a structured mindset
- You are detail oriented with a marked ability to see the bigger picture
- You are proactive in identifying improvements and efficiencies and able to communicate with your stakeholders across the organization and business areas.
- You are resilient, determined, accurate and deliver as committed.
- You are a team player but can also work independently
