Project Developer

Who Are We

The Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping is a not-for-profit, independent R&D center working to accelerate the decarbonization of the global maritime industry. In close collaboration with partners across shipping, energy, academia, and authorities, we develop pathways, test new technologies, and de-risk critical components of the transition. The transition requires a shift from a business-as-usual thinking to a more sustainable, but also more costly future, as we as consumers have to pay more, to ensure a better planet for the next generations.

For this pre-commercial space (no direct monetary business case exists), we are now looking to strengthen our Green Corridor Team with a Project Developer with strong Project Management skills.

The Opportunity

Catalyzing the pre-commercial projects are done under the strategic umbrella of Program Catalyze Ecosystem Transition (CAT). The program is one of four programs, and resides in the Energy & Fuels Impact Hub, as the main commercial challenge for the projects is the cost difference between current fossil-based fuel and the future sustainable fuels.

The Green Corridor Project Developer will report to the Head of Program CAT in our Energy & Fuels Impact Hub, but also work closely with the Head of Program and other project managers across the Center, contributing to and leading key Center projects. This multifaceted role offers the opportunity to engage across the organization and to represent the Center in interactions with global external stakeholders.

As this role necessitates in-office presence for the majority of the work week, we are not considering hybrid work arrangements. But if you currently reside in Denmark or are willing to relocate to Copenhagen, and is passionate about driving positive change in the maritime industry and contribute to a more sustainable future - keep on reading!

What You’ll Do

As the Green Corridor Project Developer, you will play a key role in driving project progress and ensure activities are executed in compliance with Center processes. This role requires a proactive approach to seek and implement learnings from other projects. Furthermore, the role requires strong analytical/technical skills, excel manoeuvring and whiteboard on-the-fly calculations.

Your primary tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Management of green corridor projects and other alternative fuel supply chain projects, integrating contributions from partners and colleagues
  • Facilitate and act in a cross-project collaborative environment
  • Collect data, analyse and aggregate insights in alternative fuel supply chains
  • Establish and grow networks with internal and external stakeholders to promote collaboration and cross learning in an international setting
  • Contribute to the evolution and application of the Center’s Green Corridor Methodology, ensuring alignment with project learnings and industry best practices.
  • Represent the Center in external forums, working groups, and industry events to share insights and promote best practices in alternative fuel infrastructure and green corridor development.
  • Identify and assess risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities in fuel infrastructure projects, and proactively propose mitigation strategies.
  • Technical leadership, planning of resources and tasks within own projects and at hub level

Who Are You?

To succeed in this role, you need to be able to understand complex, difficult and unproven project and collaboration ideas, often by drawing and sketching to get the team onboard. You are a team player with the ability to work independently, and willing to work with a broad range of tasks.

  • Ability to take an overall system-level view of complex projects
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly interpret data and translate insights into actionable recommendations and strong visuals

  • Profound interest and preferably proven track record in business development.
  • Cultural awareness as we operate in a global setting.
  • Ability to lead and inspire collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and partner organizations.
  • Easy-going personality, with a ‘we will find a solution’-approach, as many pre-commercial projects will realize obstacles and challenges
  • Focus on delivery and resulting impact on relevant decarbonization targets.
  • Solid project management skills.
  • Understanding of the maritime value chain is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills to manage communication across our own organisation and a large external stakeholder setup.

  • Proven track record in project management with focus on delivery.
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary project teams and manage stakeholders.
  • Experience in business development activities related to renewable energy, alternative fuels and connected infrastructure.
