We are looking for a Lead Engineer to join our Kids and Ecosystem Technology team!

Core Responsibilities



  • Take ownership for designing the technical solution with the engineering team while collaborating on the discovery with product managers, design leads, and business partners
  • Develop, operate & maintain robust and scalable solutions - striking the right balance between feature set, security, quality, and urgency
  • Continuously improve the health of the team's codebase and systems, ensuring a healthy and transparent delivery flow from development to live
  • Ensure extraordinary quality and be a steward of our values that consumers expect from our brand
  • Bring your curiosity to explore new technologies that can help us improve and move our solutions
  • Actively participate and contribute to cross-organizational initiatives, sharing knowledge and building communities

The Kids and Ecosystem Technology (KET) department builds and operates core digital products and platforms including kids.lego.com, the LEGO Play app, LEGO Account, and shared services across both shopper and consumer experiences. KET plays a key role in the LEGO Group’s long-term ambition to Build Direct and Long-lasting Relationships (BDLR) with kids, adults, and families.

As Lead Engineer, you will lead the development of core backend capabilities that enable high-impact experiences across our kids ecosystem including the LEGO Play app enjoyed by millions of kids globally. You will guide a skilled, multi-functional team to shape scalable architecture and deliver fabulous, data-driven functionality that connects with children around the globe.

Do you have what it takes?



  • Demonstrable experience in software engineering, including architecture paradigms (both conceptual and hands-on) and modern development methodologies such as TDD (Test-Driven Development) and EDA (Event-Driven Architecture)
  • Experience leading technical initiatives – formally or informally – with a focus on mentorship, collaboration, and enabling team success.
  • Good communication skills, able to lead and contribute to complex technical discussions, facilitate decision-making across teams
  • Passion for producing high-quality documentation and technical visualizations that help articulate and guide service design and implementation
  • Ability to connect and collaborate seamlessly across both technical and non-technical roles, handling partner complexity, aligning day-to-day decisions with strategic goals
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native services in AWS, including Fargate, Lambda, SQS/SNS, and API Gateway/Routing
  • Experience working with Databricks and Apache Pulsar (or similar event streaming platforms)
  • Proficient in TypeScript with a strong emphasis on test coverage and reliability
  • Experience with continuous delivery, DevOps practices, serverless architecture, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD) would be beneficial
  • Familiarity with React, JavaScript, and frontend integration patterns would be a bonus



Advanced English both written and verbal would be ideal as we are an internationally gathered team.
