Does this inspire you and feel like a fit? Then we would love to have you join us!

The Role

Genmab is on a journey to bring our innovative medicines to patients in Europe. As we establish and grow our presence, we are looking for a dynamic, resourceful, and highly collaborative Director of Strategy & Operations to partner directly with the EU General Manager (GM) and European leadership team.

This is a critical role at the intersection of strategic planning, operational execution, and organizational development. You will help shape the emerging Genmab Europe organization, support launch readiness and market expansion, and foster a “roll-up-your-sleeves” culture grounded in purpose, agility, and collaboration.

This role we prefer to fill in Germany, being homebased in Copenhagen or working remote it another EU country is possible too (with regular travel to European sites).

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Serve as a thought partner to the EU GM in translating vision into actionable strategies across countries and functions.
  • Drive cross-functional planning, goal setting (e.g., OKRs), and tracking processes aligned with regional and global priorities.
  • Shape and manage key forums (e.g., EU LT meetings, quarterly business reviews) to enable effective decision-making.

Operations & Business Rhythm

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the EU GM office: coordinate priorities, manage business cadence, and enable connectivity across markets.
  • Ensure strategic initiatives are translated into operational plans and tracked through structured follow-up and accountability.
  • Partner with global and regional functions (Medical, Market Access, Regulatory, etc.) to remove barriers and accelerate progress.

Organizational Build & Culture

  • Act as a force multiplier for the EU GM to establish the European commercial organization – including headcount growth, governance, and ways of working.
  • Support onboarding, team development, and cultural integration efforts as the organization scales.
  • Embody and foster a “One Genmab” mindset – inclusive, science-driven, patient-focused, and entrepreneurial.

Problem Solving & Ambiguity Management

  • Take ownership of undefined challenges and work across teams to develop pragmatic solutions.
  • Navigate and lead through uncertainty with curiosity, clarity, and confidence.
  • Build scalable processes where needed, and flex tactically where necessary.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of executive-level experience, with extensive project management experience in a medical or commercial operations area within the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical sector.
  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling commercial or cross-functional operations within a biopharma or life sciences setting — ideally during a launch or market expansion phase.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of operational excellence — can move seamlessly from shaping high-level plans to driving execution across multiple stakeholders.
  • Skilled at influencing senior leaders and enabling team effectiveness without direct authority; known for “connecting the dots” in complex environments.
  • Proven ability to manage ambiguity and solve unstructured problems with a pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Comfortable with both structure and scrappiness — thrives in environments where not everything is defined and takes initiative to create clarity.
  • Deep understanding of how regional and local markets operate in Europe, including regulatory and commercial dynamics.
  • Cultural ambassador: passionate about helping shape a high-performing, values-driven organization with a strong sense of identity and purpose.
  • Fluency in English required; additional European languages a plus.

About You

  • You are genuinely passionate about our purpose
  • You bring precision and excellence to all that you do
  • You believe in our rooted-in-science approach to problem-solving
  • You are a generous collaborator who can work in teams with a broad spectrum of backgrounds
  • You take pride in enabling the best work of others on the team
  • You can grapple with the unknown and be innovative
  • You have experience working in a fast-growing, dynamic company (or a strong desire to)
  • You work hard and are not afraid to have a little fun while you do so!
