Senior Application Technologist (Baker)

Job Summary

IFF is looking for a dynamic individual with a strong knowledge and experience within enzymes for the baking industry, as Sr. Application Technologist (Baker), Bakery Enzymes, to support the continuous growth of Health & Bioscience business in Europe. The Health & Biosciences division is a leader in the industrial biotechnology sector, and we develop innovative enzymes and bioproducts to improve performance and reduce the environmental impact of the food & beverage industry.

In the role of baker/product developer, you will work closely with both local and international colleagues. You will plan and conduct baking trials and participate in both development projects and customer visits. You will actively engage in daily internal and external activities with your knowledge and experience in process technology from the bakery industry, thereby contributing to the development of both enzymes and functional ingredients. Precision, knowledge sharing and building are essential in this job.

You should be able to collaborate with colleagues and customers on process and technology knowledge, where customers can be from industrial bakeries, mills, and improver houses.

Your primary tasks:

• Baking trials – Plan, execute, and follow up on systematic baking trials. Trials are conducted both with our specialists and customers.
• Translating theory into practice in the bakery and reporting your observations and results. Documenting the functionality of products is an important part of both development and customer-related tasks.
• Providing technical and creative support and thereby building new application knowledge within our development projects and customer tasks.
• Participating in concept development, which can result in the launch of new products. Developing processes for our various equipment in our modern pilot bakery.
• Training colleagues/customers in the functionality of our ingredients and showcasing products and our facilities.
• Participating in the daily operations of the development in the bakery lab, including procurement, maintenance, and inventory management.
  
  

Job requirements:

• Baker, preferably with additional education as a process technologist, with experience from the bakery or ingredients industry.
• Several years of experience as a baker or product developer or experience in a similar role in the bakery or food ingredients industry would be an advantage.
• Experience with practical, systematic, and structured experimental work and understand the importance of precision and reporting. Your experiments must be repeatable.
• To be open, curious, and passionate about the work and see opportunities in all situations.
• Thrive in a dynamic matrix organization with different cultures.
• As a person, you are independent and responsible, quick to learn new things, and able to apply them in practice. Besides working independently on your tasks, you are also a team player who understands the importance of functioning in a larger organization. Teamwork and knowledge sharing are essential at IFF.
• Good communication skills and appreciate an informal and humorous tone in a respectful work environment. Outgoing and creative without forgetting the structure in your work.
• Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
• Good experience with common IT systems like Office 365.
