We are seeking a dependable and experienced Shift Manager to lead the safe and efficient operation of a power generation facility fueled by natural gas or liquid fuel, utilizing aero-derivative or industrial turbine generators. The Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing all plant activities during assigned shifts, coordinating operations and maintenance teams, responding to system issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.

This leadership role is ideal for professionals with a solid background in rotating equipment, turbine systems, and power plant operations, who are ready to take responsibility for real-time plant performance and personnel supervision.

Location: On-site at a customer facility

Start Date: Immediately

Responsibilities

  • Lead the plant operations team during assigned shifts, ensuring optimal performance of turbine generators and Balance of Plant (BoP) systems.
  • Oversee real-time operational decisions including turbine start-up, shutdown, synchronization, and load management.
  • Supervise Control Room Operators, Field Operators, and Maintenance Technicians to ensure coordinated plant activity.
  • Enforce safety standards, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), permit-to-work systems, and emergency response protocols.
  • Monitor plant KPIs, operational logs, and equipment trends; initiate troubleshooting or escalation as necessary.
  • Ensure accurate shift handovers, reporting, and communication of plant status to management and engineering.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, and internal stakeholders during maintenance, testing, or commissioning events.
  • Support root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on operating procedures, safety incidents, and maintenance records.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing reliability, efficiency, and compliance.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in power plant operations and maintenance, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Direct experience with gas turbine systems (aero-derivative or industrial), such as those used in mobile or modular generation units.
  • Strong knowledge of turbine auxiliaries, fuel handling, cooling, lube oil, air systems, and electrical distribution.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a high-pressure, real-time operating environment.
  • Proficient in reading technical documentation including P&IDs, schematics, and OEM manuals.
  • Familiarity with computerized systems (DCS, SCADA, CMMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance (OSHA, ISO, local regulations).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and respond to plant emergencies when required.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.

Preferred:

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Energy Engineering.
  • Prior experience with mobile, modular, or fast-deployment power plants.
  • Certifications in turbine operation, HSE, or electrical safety are a plus.
