Operational Excellence Director - Toolbox & Learning - Copenhagen, Denmark

Design The Way We Work. Shape How We Learn.

At Maersk, we’re on a bold journey to become the global integrator of logistics. This transformation demands not only operational excellence, but the capability to embed it deeply across our people, systems, and culture.

As we deploy The Maersk Way (TMW) – our global operating model – we’re looking for a Operational Excellence Director - Toolbox & Learning to lead the design and evolution of the core toolsets and learning experiences that bring TMW to life. This is a critical, enabling role that supports capability-building at every level of the business.

The Role

You will lead the development of Maersk’s Operational Excellence toolbox and learning ecosystem – ensuring tools are intuitive, scalable, and relevant, and that learning is practical, experiential, and aligned with real operational maturity.

This is not about building an academy. It’s about enabling performance through smart design, simple guidance, and powerful experiences that drive real-world adoption.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design, evolve, and govern TMW tools (e.g., visual management, daily management, problem-solving) in collaboration with global and regional teams.
  • Ensure tools are simple, intuitive, frontline-ready, and reflect best practice.
  • Lead the end-to-end learning architecture supporting operational excellence capability across roles and regions.
  • Embed learning into business moments—onboarding, promotions, performance reviews—not separate from them.
  • Build and enable internal coaches, leaders, and champions through assets that empower behavior change.
  • Champion a culture of learning through peer communities, shared moments, and recognition.
  • Own knowledge management and ensure easy, consistent access to all materials and content.
  • Partner with People Solutions, Maersk Leadership Institute, and external experts to maintain alignment and coherence.
  • Continuously improve based on user feedback, operational maturity, and business readiness—not volume.

What You’ll Be Accountable For

  • Design and release of effective, high-quality OpEx tools and learning modules.
  • Governance and consistency of tool usage across functions and regions.
  • Capability uplift across target populations, measured by adoption, confidence, and performance.
  • Alignment of learning with enterprise leadership and behavioral frameworks.
  • Integration of learning and capability into core business routines and leadership pathways.

What We’re Looking For

  • Deep expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, or CI environments with strong practical deployment experience.
  • Proven track record designing scalable learning and enablement strategies in complex organizations.
  • Ability to simplify the complex – designing tools and content that work in real frontline conditions.
  • Strong program architecture capabilities: aligning tools and training with strategy and maturity.
  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills; able to influence at all levels.
  • Focus on behavior change and leadership role-modelling, not just knowledge transfer.
  • Highly collaborative, resilient, and adaptable in a global, matrixed environment.

Why Maersk?

At Maersk, transformation isn’t a side project – it’s our future. We’re reshaping the global logistics industry, and we need people who can turn strategy into adoption, systems into habits, and complexity into clarity.

This role puts you at the heart of that mission. If you're passionate about enabling others to succeed, and you thrive on impact, scalability, and simplicity — we want to hear from you.

Maersk is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, and we embrace different styles of thinking.
