THE ROLE
We are currently looking for a talented Instrumentation and (Edge) Control Engineer to join our engineering team. You will be building the “digital brains” of the Hyme Thermal Energy Storage and will be involved in complex and cross-functional R&D and engineering. As an I&C Engineer you will be responsible for the full design lifecycle of automation (4.0), I&C and high-level planning and dispatch systems associated with the thermal energy storage, from initial concepts to final design and commissioning.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- I&C Systems Development. Lead the continous development of the Thermal Energy Storage (TES) I& (Edge) C systems, including process control and safety systems.
- Testing and Commissioning. Lead testing and commissioning of TES control, instrumentation, and safety systems with internal and external partners (Prototyping, FAT/SAT, commissioning).
- Work Package Management. Create and manage work packages of system and sub-system designs, developing work plans and managing priorities.
- System Design & Compliance. Conceptualize, develop, and document the TES Instrument & (Edge) Control systems, from requirements through final design in accordance with relevant codes and standards.
- Collaboration & Coordination. Coordinate with other departments to develop and verify TES design requirements related to Instrumentation & (Edge) Control systems.
- Specification Development. Develop system and component specifications for Instrumentation & Control systems and components.
- Documentation Management. Develop and manage I&C documentation such as instrument datasheets, wiring diagrams, control narratives, loop diagrams etc.
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
- Educational Foundation: bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Instrument & Control, Electronic Engineering or similar.
- Proven Experience: 5+ years of relevant work experience.
Experience in:
- Electrical Systems: design and application of electrical power systems.
- Automation and Control Systems: industrial automation, DAQ, safe by design edge control solutions and architecture, field bus communication and HMI knowledge for complex engineering systems.
- Digital Integration and Cloud Connectivity: realizing extensions and establishing digital interconnections with IT/Cloud Platforms and software architectures.
- Industrial Programming Languages: use software to connect field devices via edge and cloud.
- E&I Design: preparing E&I design deliverables including system specifications, control narratives & instrument datasheets and load lists, etc.
- I&C Systems Maintenance: start-up/commissioning, troubleshooting, diagnostics, testing, and calibration of electrical/I&C systems.
Familiarity with:
- Advanced Industry Technologies and Cybersecurity: Industry 4.0, IoT technology and protocols, industrial cyber security methods.
- Process Diagrams: developing industrial process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID).
- Industrial Technical/Process Safety, with a focus on I&C; safety and shutdown systems, cause & effect diagrams, safety integrity level, etc.
- Software Programs, such as PLC/Edge Controller/SCADA/HMI programming, Instrument Sizing Software, CAD tools, Electrical System Studies.
- Electrical Design Codes, MV/HV systems and system specification – a plus.
