Lead Process Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Lead Process Engineer to join our talented team at our office located in Copenhagen, Denmark.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing manufacturing processes and supporting utilities on a scale that can range from developmental pilot plants to full commercial production.

Experience & Leadership

• Proven ability to lead large-scale, complex capital projects, ideally in the £100M+ range
• Minimum of 20 years’ industry experience, including leadership of progressively larger and more technically challenging projects
• Strong track record in delivering projects within multidisciplinary environments, managing diverse teams across engineering, construction, and commissioning
  
  

Technical Expertise

• Deep understanding of downstream processing of fermentation broth, including but not limited to:
• Dissolution processes
• Separation techniques, particularly Disc Stack centrifuges
• Filtration systems, especially candle filters
• Ultrafiltration technologies
  

Team Collaboration

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team environment
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across engineering, operations, and executive functions
  
  

Additional Responsibilities

• Produces conceptual design deliverables such as Process Flow Diagrams and Material and Energy Balances.
• Estimates utility requirements for new manufacturing processes, design utilities generation, and distribution systems.
• Generates Process P&IDs (preferably on AutoCAD) that include controls strategy and CIP/SIP functions, if appropriate.
• Generates P&IDs for critical utility systems, such as WFI, USP Purified water, and Clean Steam.
• Performs engineering studies for expanding, improving, or automating existing facilities with limited supervision.
• Produces specifications and performance data sheets for process equipment and instrumentation.
• Makes use of and participates in the development of company design and production tools, including process simulation and smart P&IDs.
• Assumes ownership of the process-related aspects of a portion of a large project or an entire small project, and provides technical support to the design team.
• Establishes and maintains excellent working relationships with clients and members of the IPS design team.
  
  

Qualifications & Requirements

• 20+ years of engineering experience and 5+ years in process design, preferably in the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Knowledge of cGMPs as they affect process design and equipment specification.
  
  

Travel based on the project location. This position is a safety-sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
