WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US
The Associate Vice President of Engineering is a member of the senior leadership team, reporting to SVP of Application Engineering. AVP of Engineering is responsible for delivering outcomes to clients in the respective areas, Accounting and Operations, in alignment with Product management. While focusing on delivery, the AVP of Engineering is guiding the technical vision, forming the engineering strategy, as well as ensuring execution and alignment across the organization. This role leads large, distributed engineering teams assigned to Product Areas in the fields of Accounting and Operations and plays a critical role in promoting innovation and ensuring the delivery of secure, high-quality, and customer-centric software solutions.
As a strategic and operational leader, the AVP of Engineering partners closely with Product, Platform, Operations and Business stakeholders to align engineering efforts with company goals. The role requires a proficient focus on technical excellence, organizational leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to support the company’s growth and transformation.
AVP of Engineering owns multiple product areas with wide span of responsibility across Accounting and Operations domains. The role is responsible for outcomes, incl. dependency management across the value chain. They are collaborating with other peers and stakeholders, within Application, but also across Platform and Value streams.

What You Will Be Responsible For
- You are Leader of Leaders. You provide leadership through your team of leaders ( (Sr.) Directors of Engineering and (Sr.) Engineering Managers) with responsibility for hiring, growing, and upskilling capabilities in your product areas, belonging in fields of Accounting and Operations
- In current organization design, you have 2 direct reports, Sr. Directors of Engineering, leading each of 2 areas, Accounting and Operations. Accounting area consists of 2 Product Areas, Investment Accounting and Fund Accounting. Operations area consists of 3 Product areas: Reconcile and Confirm, Settlement & Events and Collateral Management.
- You are accountable for delivering on the strategy for group of Product areas in Accounting and Operations
- You work closely with your peers in Product Management on setting the strategy of the Product Areas and to understand the customer outcomes that you and your teams are responsible for delivering
- You collaborate with other engineering leaders across SimCorp to deliver cross organizational initiatives, and to ensure knowledge sharing and consistency where needed
- You enable cross-team and –PA planning in your area of responsibility and implement process improvement within your area of responsibility, and across the organization where needed
- You are accountable that your areas follow SimCorp’s security procedures and best practices
- You ensure Engineering excellence within your area of responsibility
- You govern the ways of working in your product areas
- You are responsible for coordinating releases for your product areas
- You own the Engineering Metrics \ OKRs \ KPIs for your product areas
- You are accountable for managing the budget in your product areas
- You are responsible for implementing a location strategy that enables a global work environment
- You have the responsibility to be on top of potential customer incidents \ escalations and seeing them through to resolution
- You report to the SVP of Engineering
- Experience and knowledge in the field of Investment Accounting and Operations
- 10+ years of experience in a leadership and managerial role, leading technical or engineering department
- Experience in meeting and fulfilling product vision and strategy objectives at a senior level
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in an international working environment
- Skilled in leading and inspiring engineering teams, creating a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Deep understanding of engineering principles, technologies, and methodologies relevant to the FinTech industry.
- Proficient communication skills, with experience managing stakeholder expectations.
- Ability to define key success metrics and measure the impact of engineering teams.
- Strong collaborative skills, highly motivated colleague who works well with others and is results-oriented.
