Textile & Print Designer – Full-time Maternity Cover

Are you passionate about creating unique textiles and print designs, with a natural aptitude for painting, collage, and other hands-on techniques? Does an experimental creative process inspire you, and can you translate artistic ideas into designs that are both creative and commercially relevant - aligned with Ferm Living’s distinctive design universe? If that sounds like you, you might be the perfect fit for the Textile & Print Designer role at Ferm Living.

In this role, you will report directly to our Head of Brand and Design and work closely with our in-house design team. Together, you will be responsible for developing products that reflect Ferm Living’s design DNA—where aesthetics and functionality go hand in hand. Your work will help ensure that Ferm Living continues to make a lasting impression in the world of design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop original textile designs and print patterns across our different product categories - including both our Living and Kids segments
  • Involvement in the full creative process: exploring visual and cultural references, developing creative direction through concept boards, experimenting with materials and colours, sketching, prototyping, and preparing specifications.
  • Ensure technical accuracy through detailed documentation and design packages for suppliers and manufacturers
  • Maintain close collaboration with product developers, Head of Design, and external partners to bring concepts from idea to final product and ensure quality, consistency, and design integrity throughout sampling and manufacturing
  • Support cross-functional design needs, including written design input, product naming, visual presentation development, and other creative tasks that shape the look, feel, and story of our collections.

You are a strong Designer with a profound understanding of your craft. You are expected to be on top of tendencies and are curious to explore new product ideas and will thrive in a dynamic environment as a true brand ambassador.

Qualifications and Experience

  • You have a visionary mindset and thrive in a fast-paced creative environment, while also excelling at delivering designs within clearly defined brand and project guidelines.
  • You possess a strong creative sensibility and a deep understanding of Ferm Living’s design DNA, with the ability to translate this into refined, functional, and responsible products.
  • Extensive experience in textiles — both creatively and technically. The ideal candidate recognises the importance of integrating design with technical development. Proficiency is expected across a variety of methods and textile types, including woven, printed, and embroidered textiles, as well as experimental or tactile surfaces, constructed textiles, and upholstery fabrics.
  • A collaborative team player with strong independent working skills, able to manage multiple projects efficiently while maintaining high standards and meeting deadlines.
  • You have advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, and work fluently with design and specification tools.
  • The ideal candidate should have approximately 5+ years of relevant industry experience, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality work across product development, design implementation, and cross-functional collaboration.

We read applications on an ongoing basis, we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible. We look forward to hearing from you. Only applications that include visual examples of relevant work will be considered.
