Newly arrived refugees need your friendship Røde Kors
Ungdommens Røde Kors Aalborg
Dato: for 2 dage siden
By: Ikast, Region Midtjylland
Kontrakttype: Fuld tid

We are in need of volunteer networkers and contact families who will open the door to the local community and new social networks for single refugees and refugee families in Ikast.
Studies show that refugees are more vulnerable to loneliness and isolation than other population groups. They have come to a country they do not know and where they do not speak the language. They have often lost family and, not least, the entire social circle that we all build throughout life – friends, neighbors, classmates and colleagues.
But you can make a difference for these people. You speak the language, you know your local environment and the Danish culture. And that alone means you can help with a wide range of everyday challenges and help open the door to new social networks and relationships.
It is not complicated to be a contact person for a refugee.
There are no special requirements to be a volunteer friend. The most important thing is your knowledge of everyday life in Denmark and your hospitality and humanity.
In return, you get the opportunity to get to know another person – or family –, you gain insight into another culture and perhaps a relationship that lasts.
You commit to volunteering for six months, but we hope to establish a friendship that will last a lifetime.
Before starting as a volunteer, you will meet with the activity leader and have a talk about your expectations for the volunteer work.
The Red Cross has many different projects underway to help vulnerable and fragile people on their way to a better everyday life. Among them is the integration project "Friends Show the Way", with a large volunteer group that you will become a part of.
In addition, we are proud to welcome you into a strong Red Cross community, both locally and nationally.
The Red Cross is a democratic member organization consisting of more than 200 local branches in Denmark and we are present as a movement in 191 countries.
We look forward to hearing from you!
