Job Description

Are you ready to lead the future of Additive Manufacturing at the LEGO Group? We're looking for a visionary Senior Additive Manufacturing Manager to drive technology advancements and maturing activities that push the boundaries of metal Additive Manufacturing. In this role, you’ll lead the technical agenda as product owner of a high-performing, cross-functional team through complex R&D initiatives—combining technical expertise, agile leadership, and strategic thinking to turn innovation into reality!

Please note for this role you will be based in Billund, Denmark.


Core Responsibilities



  • Team Leadership Work systematically with building high performing teams that learn from each other and succeed together. Further, guide and support the team in removing impediments within their respective area of competence and influence, and makes pragmatic choices about escalating to the Leadership Team and technical stakeholders to ensure the departments objectives and key results will be achieved.
  • People Development Grow other people (professionally as well as personally) and see their development as an integrated part of strengthening performance and building a healthy organization.
  • Capabilities Building Identify capability gaps between future needs and current capabilities. Suggest, develop, and drive the adoption of new processes and tools, and be an active participant and contributor to cross organizational initiatives and communities that will drive improvements to the AM agenda at the LEGO Group.
  • Project Management Lead comprehensive projects, which includes developing and aligning plans with internal and external stakeholders that outline project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, resources, risks, and assumptions. The span of projects can cover the machine development at the supplier all the way to installation and commission of an entire production platform at the LEGO Group.
  • Communication Pro-actively drive and provide succinct and timely project updates, progress reports, well-aligned pre-reads for Management meetings with suppliers as well as follow-up actions.
  • Collaboration Foster a trustful collaboration of cross-functional teams, including engineers, data scientists, materials scientists and manufacturing technicians, as well as with international suppliers to develop additive manufacturing solutions.
  • Process Optimization Support and coordinate the team in conducting methodical experiments (DoE) to analyze and determine technology capabilities and optimizing the AM processes and parameters to improve reliability, quality and efficiency.

Additive Design & Manufacturing (AD&M) is developing and maturing Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies in the LEGO Group. The department is focusing on the research and development of design methodologies and technologies, production technologies, materials and applications. The department is mainly focusing on polymer AM production for different applications in close collaboration with different stakeholders. The aim is pushing and driving the AM industry and its technologies towards true large scale manufacturing.

You will join our AD&M Technology Maturing & Analytics team, which is taking promising AM technologies and processes and advancing them to a stage of high maturity and readiness for industrial implementation. The work includes optimizing and fine-tuning the technologies, conducting extensive testing and validation, and addressing any remaining technical challenges or limitations. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, data scientists, material experts and manufacturing technicians, to refine the processes, improve material properties, enhance system performance, and ensure reliability and repeatability. Further, you will also contribute to documentation, quality control procedures, and knowledge transfer to facilitate the successful integration of AM technologies and processes into an industrial production environment.

  • Technical Expertise Possesses good knowledge in metal Additive Manufacturing technologies, primarily laser powder bed fusion (LPBF), and a solid understanding of the tools and technologies relevant to a given project, including knowledge in the area of Machine Safety and basics in machine connectivity and communication.
  • Project Management Demonstrates strong project management skills, including the ability to create and execute project plans, balance priorities, track progress, and meet deadlines in an organized and structured manner. Also shows understanding of different project management methodologies and champions the use of agile practices in the team.
  • Communication and Collaboration Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for effective stakeholder management and team coordination.
  • Must have proficiency in presenting information in a succinct and digestible format for decision making, and presenting technical content to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability A team player that strives to succeed in an ever-changing and challenging environment with the ability to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Problem-Solving Experienced in identifying and solving problems that may arise during project execution, which includes critical thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Self-Directed The ability to work proactively and take initiative without relying heavily on constant guidance or supervision.



Nice to have



  • Knowledge in the field of metallurgy
  • Experience with agile ways of working, ideally in the role as Product Owner
  • Experience with production setups and -processes
  • Flare for innovation, development, and out of the box thinking
