Our Power & Low Carbon Solutions team is looking to hire Managers - Senior Managers to support the growth of our market and commercial offering in the Nordics, from our hub in Copenhagen. 

You will be joining our dynamic and growing Power and Low Carbon Solutions practice. We work with a range of clients from across the energy value chain, covering utilities, oil & gas cos, network companies, commodities traders, industrials, and institutional investors; to help them successfully navigate the energy transition. Baringa is differentiated through its ability to leverage our fundamental understanding of market, technical, commercial, and regulatory drivers of value and risk to help clients develop projects, deploy capital, or launch new products and services that help decarbonise our economy.

What You Will Be Doing

Our power market advisory team gives our clients an unparalleled combination of energy market expertise and commercial insights. We are proud to work with the foremost policymakers, regulators, investors, developers, lenders, and energy companies operating globally across the energy supply chain. Led by a Senior Management Team respected as Thought Leaders within the industry, we help our clients shape, define, and implement change in energy markets.

You will be working at the forefront of the energy sector alongside market specialists with deep industry knowledge where you will be able to deploy and then broaden your skillset and sector expertise: By way of example, typical projects that you would be working on include:

  • Acting as a market thought-leader and advisor, helping client to assess energy markets, energy transition technologies, and emerging business models.
  • Managing and delivering economic, commercial, and strategic consulting services to energy companies, financial institutions, large energy users, and public sector bodies.
  • Managing and delivering qualitative market research, energy market insights and stakeholder management to support market entry strategies and other bespoke strategic advisory engagements.
  • Managing and delivering quantitative analysis on revenue perspectives across the different energy markets for renewable assets in the context of valuations for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Providing advisory support to developers, investors, and lenders seeking to understand value generated through deployment of standalone / co-located flexible energy resources.
  • Leading buy and sell-side commercial due diligence across renewables, battery storage, and clean molecules projects, including on first-of-a-kind low-carbon assets.
  • Leading and supporting business development prospects, from building our brand presence and engaging with clients in the Nordics, to identifying and originating consulting opportunities and writing proposals.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior team members, delivering internal training and supporting the dissemination of knowledge and best practices internally.

Your Skills And Experience

We are looking for exceptional leaders experienced in the Nordic energy markets (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland) to join our industry-leading Power Market Advisory Team. You will be well versed in the economic fundamentals of Nordic wholesale electricity markets. 

Please note that we encourage applications from candidates who meet part of the criteria below.

  • Desire to play a leading role in growing Baringa’s Copenhagen office and managing a growing team.
  • Deep understanding of the Nordic power market, for example in market fundamentals, market design, policy and regulation, or commercial structures. This could include renewables, hydro, bioenergy, flexible assets, electricity networks, district heating networks, or other relevant fields.
  • Analytical skills applied to wholesale electricity market fundamentals and market modelling.
  • Ability to take ownership and deliver results in client-facing environments.
  • Demonstrate project management, analytical capabilities, and excellence in people management and career development.
  • Flexibility and ability to shuffle different priorities within a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong professional network in the region, such as with utilities, developers, financial institutions, network operators, industry associations regulators or policymakers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English is essential. Advanced language skills (C1 level) in Danish, Norwegian, Finnish or Swedish will be an advantage; additional languages are a plus.
