Platform Technician/Sr. Platform Technician

Orbis Medicines is a pioneering biotech company dedicated to the future of drug discovery by leveraging cutting-edge chemistry and data-driven approaches to transform the treatment landscape. We are looking for a talented technician/master ’s-level peptide chemist with a background in solid and liquid phase chemistry of peptides, as well as expertise in organic synthesis to advance internal and external peptide drug discovery programs. In this laboratory-based position, you will be involved in the planning and executing multi-step synthesis, purification, and analytical characterization of macrocyclic peptides.

As a key part of the Danish platform team, you will:

• Synthesize macrocycle libraries using advanced laboratory automation tools.
• Develop and optimize novel chemical reactions that are compatible with our proprietary platform.
• Create and synthesize small molecule building blocks for macrocycle libraries.
• Propose workflow improvements to enhance efficiency and innovation.
• Actively troubleshoot and refine lab protocols for higher throughput.
• Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of lab instruments, including peptide synthesizers, liquid handling systems, and analytical tools (e.g., LC-MS)

Your Skills and Expertise

• Educational/Professional Background: A Technician or BSc/MSc degree with 5+ years of experience in peptide chemistry

• Technical Proficiency: Design and synthesis of complex peptides, including macrocycles. Experience in synthesis of amino acid and building block production, along with expertise in experimental design. A strong background in operating peptide synthesizers and advanced lab instrumentation is highly valued.

• Specialized Knowledge: Significant experience with oral macrocyclic peptides and library-based screening technologies is preferred, coupled with a proactive approach to experiment design, data interpretation, and iterative experimental refinement for optimized results.

• Lab and Analytical Skills: Expertise in purification techniques such as HPLC, advanced lab instruments, and an aptitude for learning and implementing new software and technologies to improve laboratory workflows.

• Communication and Collaboration: Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders to achieve project milestones while thriving in a multidisciplinary, team-driven environment.
